Celebrate Full Moon tonight & every month at Metal Arts Village

Monday, October 29th, 2012

Tonight is the night for the Full Moon in October. Celebrate along with others from 5 to 8 p.m. — enjoy live music, wine tasting, a cookout (hot dogs/chips), other sweet goodies at the Metal Arts Village, 3230 N. Dodge Blvd. (north of the NE corner of Ft. Lowell and Dodge) in midtown Tucson. We’ve been a few times to this monthly event, and it’s definitely a fun evening under the Full Moon.

There are eleven artists’ studios in this “village” with hand crafted sculptures, decorative home decor, gates and art for your landscaped yard. Some of the metal artisans do live demonstrations of their art during this event, so its like an open studio tour.

A creative sculpture garden is in front of this locale, with imaginative pieces in mostly metal, some glass & ceramics. And don’t overlook the charming coffee shop “Coffee Loft” that’s tucked in the heart of the village, with its extra upstairs loft seating.

I did report on that coffee shop almost two years ago when it was named “Spill the Beanz” (click here).

Next full moon events in 2012: Wednesday November 28 and Friday December 28.

More info on their website, www.metalartsvillage.com, their Facebook page, or call 520-975-9792. Go online to their website for a list of their artists and photos of their metal creations.

Do “Spill the Beanz” about this new coffee shop

Thursday, November 4th, 2010

A charming & unique coffee shop called “Spill the Beanz”, located at the Metal Arts Village at 3230 N. Dodge Blvd. is worthy of a visit. It has a metal exterior for its Studio “h”, like the other workshops/stores of this art resource center which are “all things metal”: furniture, home décor, sculptures, fences, doors, hardware, etc.

The other studios housed there are Appaloosa in the Woods, DogLix Designs, Al Glann, Ochoa Stained Glass, Art Inc., Altenburg Kraftwerks, Finx Sculpture, Lyn Rae Lowe, and Mark Wallis.

I dropped by for lunch and was charmed by the outdoor patio (with unique metal sculptures scattered around the patch of grass in back) and the upstairs loft dining area with tables, a red plush couch & several chairs. Throughout the coffee shop are artwork (metal pieces and paintings, and some unique tile pieces). There’s even a piano (downstairs of course).

The menu is mostly the usual coffee shop fare: espresso, frappies, teas, plus they serve freshly baked delicious looking muffins and breads. The lunch menu is limited to only a sandwich (or two), plus vegan or veggie wraps, but they hope to expand it.

“Spill the Beanz” is open M to F 7 a.m. to 6 p.m., Sat & Sun. 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. Phone # 520-305-1726. Owned by the “Appaloosa in the Woods” upscale home décor shop next door, www.appaloossainthewoods.com.

Go check out this unique dining spot in Tucson (north of the NE corner of Dodge and Ft. Lowell).

And tell them I “spilt the beans” about them.
