Bill Buckmaster moving his radio show to KVOI “The Voice”

Thursday, April 7th, 2011

News from Bill Buckmaster (“The Buckmaster Show” on KJLL 1330 AM The Jolt):

First, let me thank you for your support of my work over the years and especially over the past four months. I am delighted to report your response has been outstanding, with many of you saying a program presenting the facts and both sides of the issues has been long overdue on Arizona Radio. Now, I have a wonderful opportunity to expand the reach of the program, allowing us to have our show be heard by all Southern Arizonans.

As of June 1, the Buckmaster Show will have a new home on KVOI, “The Voice” AM 1030. The station has one of the strongest AM signals in Arizona. In addition, our program will also be simulcast on two other stations with outstanding reach, KAPR AM 930 in Douglas and KJAA AM 1240 in Globe.

This move will go a long way toward reaching one of the goals I set for my new business: to bring intelligent talk to as many Arizonans as possible. The show will air live on the three stations from Noon to 1pm Monday through Friday.

We plan to to continue on at KJLL through the end of April and then “retool” the Buckmaster Show in May and be back live Wednesday, June 1 on KVOI, KAPR and KJAA.

Buckmaster was the talk show host on KUAT Channel 6 “Arizona Illustrated” for 23 years, before starting up his Buckmaster Show on the radio on January 3, 2011.

So stay tuned those of you out there in radio land in Southern Arizona.

Bill Buckmaster kicked off his first one hour radio talk show on KJLL (1330 AM “The Jolt”), yesterday at 9 a.m., which was rebroadcast at 7 p.m.

His show will run Monday to Friday, and if you miss it on the radio, catch it online at www.buckmastershow.com.

Buckmaster’s inaugural show on January 3, 2011:

In this first episode, Bill chats with Incoming Arizona Attorney General Tom Horne about the TUSD Lawsuit, Pima County Supervisor Ray Carroll about some park improvements, mining and the budget, US Senator Jon Kyl about plans for the upcoming session, and finally with Former US Army Chief of Staff John Wickham about the DADT repeal’s impact as well as ongoing conflicts around the world.

I reported on Buckmaster’s last 2 shows at KUAT Channel 6 on December 17, 2010
(click here). He hosted the “Arizona Illustrated” talk shows for 23 years on KUAT TV.

Buckmaster’s new bio for this new radio show:
“With more than 4,000 interviews with political, business, community and social leaders under his belt, Bill Buckmaster has been a welcome evening guest in living rooms for two decades and has introduced viewers to some of Southern Arizona’s most interesting individuals.”

And his new banner states “Tucson’s MOST TRUSTED voice for news and information.”

Antenori vs. Farley debate on May 7

Monday, May 3rd, 2010

Radio talk show “Wake Up Tucson” (1030 AM KVOI) is hosting “The Great State Debate” on Friday May 7, between LD 28 State House Rep. Steve Farley and LD 30 State Senator Frank Antenori, at the Sheraton Tucson Hotel & Suites, 5151 E. Grant Road. The event will be in the Fire + Spice Bistro restaurant at high noon, to 1:30 p.m.

Wake Up Tucson” is aired 6 to 8 a.m. daily by two businessmen hosts Joe Higgins and Chris DeSimone. Higgins challenged District 1 Pima County Supervisor Ann Day in the Republican primary of September, 2008.

From their website:
“Wake Up Tucson offers a unique perspective about the southern Arizona region. The topics range from small business, tourism, politics, economic opportunities and education. Tucson and the surrounding communities are at a turning point. The challenges and obstacles are great. Now more than ever the community needs to engage in a discussion about our options. The host(s) are highly involved in the community and bring first hand accounts to their listeners. Wake Up Tucson is a radio show with a mission and purpose to educate the community and engage the listeners to get involved in our community. ”

Democrat Steve Farley ran unsuccessfully for Tucson City Council (Ward 6), before being elected to the Arizona State House, where he has served for over three years, since 2007. Republican Frank Antenori was formerly a State House Rep. in LD 30 for one year prior to be appointed by the Pima County Board of Supervisors in March, 2010 to the State Senate. Both men are up for re-election this November. Antenori ran for CD 8 U. S. House in 2006, but lost to former LD 30 State House Rep. Randy Graf in the Republican primary.

Sounds like it will indeed be a “great state debate” about this past legislative session, and the future of our state.
