Welcome to Oktoberfest 2010.

Enjoy authentic German food, music, arts & crafts, kids’ games (jumping castles) & entertainment – all at the 2010 Oktoberfest at Hi Corbett Field, 3400 E. Camino Campestre
( between Broadway and E. 22nd). Admission is $3 for one day, Kids 12 and under free.

Friday October 1, noon to 11 p.m.
Saturday October 2, 11 a.m. to 11 p.m.
Sunday October 3, 12 noon to 5 p.m.

This year’s event benefits the Optimist Clubs of Tucson, www.optimist.org.
“Optimist International is an association of more than 2,900 Optimist Clubs around the world dedicated to “Bringing Out the Best in Kids.” Adult volunteers join Optimist Clubs to conduct positive service projects in their communities aimed at providing a helping hand to youth. With their upbeat attitude, Optimist Club members help empower young people to be the best that they can be.”

Tucson Oktoberfest (www.tucsonoktoberfest.org) is in its 9th year at Hi Corbett, and has on its website the music schedule for each day, and a list of the food available. Tonight we listened to the opening German music by the Hofbräuhaus Band (with dancing), then the U of A Tuba Cats, followed by the Saguaro Strutters. Great entertainment for the entire family.

And the bratwurst/sauerkraut, German potato salad, and lemonade were terrific. A friend of mine enjoyed the beer, for only $4 at the beer booth.

When you drink your St. Pauli Girl imported German beer, don’t forget to raise the cup (mug) and say “Prost!”
