I posted twice this week already about Tucson Meet Yourself over at the El Presidio Park, and Jacome Plaza (in front of Joel D. Valdez Main Library) in downtown Tucson, but don’t forget that October 12 is also 2nd Saturday Downtown, along and near E. Congress Street.
Website for more information:
2nd Saturday Downtown schedule, http://www.2ndsaturdaysdowntown.com/event-info/schedule/. Usually from 6:30 p.m. to 10:30 p.m.
Check out the fairly new music venue on the T.O.P. (Top of Pennington) green garage rooftop (up on the 6th floor), with great views of the city and open air beer drinking (Borderlands Brewery) & dancing. Location is at 110 E. Pennington Street between Scott and 6th Avenue.
Oct. 12: 6:30pm-9:30pm: Mitzi Cowell & The Valiants (“Tasty classic, obscure, and original blues with a swampy feel and a deep devotion to groove!”)
And over at the lovely Fox Tucson Theater (17 W. Congress St.) at 7:30pm: World Blues with Taj Mahal (tickets $28-$65, online at www.foxtucson.com)
“World Blues” is a celebration of American blues music’s global influence, as seen from three very diverse points of view and three international points of origin. Anchored by iconic folk-blues legend Taj Mahal, the evening will also feature the soulful South African blues of guitarist/vocalist Vusi Mahlasela and the more modern rock and roll perspective of Fredericks Brown, a band featuring Taj’s daughter, Deva Mahal, who hails from New Zealand.
Tucson Meet Yourself schedule for October 12, 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. schedule: http://www.tucsonmeetyourself.org/. TMY’s theme this 40th year is “Come for the Food, Stay for the Culture”. There’s going to a Sharing Chinese Stories event from 5 to 7 p.m. in the Roy Place Office, 44 N. Stone Ave. (room 119).
Lots to enjoy on Saturday October 12 downtown.
