Part of the UA College of Social and Behavioral Sciences’ Fall series, VOICES AND CHOICES OF THE 2012 ELECTION, focusing on the voices and choices of the upcoming November election.

Featuring a post-film discussion hosted by Carolyn Lukensmeyer, executive director of the UA National Institute for Civil Discourse.

This hilarious and insightful glimpse into the cutthroat world of elementary school politics follows all the drama involved in the first-ever elections for class monitor in a 3rd grade class in the Evergreen Primary School in Wuhan, China. Competing in three categories (Talent, Debate and Speech), aided and abetted by parents and teachers, the young candidates battle it out for the ultimate prize. Diving headfirst into the election process, the pint-sized politicos schmooze, make promises, plan their tactics (including negative ones) and express doubts about their own candidacies, in the process revealing the true nature of political campaigns.

Maybe we can learn about politics from 3rd grade Chinese students. Sounds like it could be insightful. See you at the movies.
