What a bash!

Wednesday, December 9th, 2009

Ho-Ho-Ho, to a coffee house we will go…and a handful of bloggers did it.

Thanks to Jimmy’s invitation and initiative, a small group of bloggers gathered this afternoon in the grand meeting room of the  Coffee Exchange at Grant & Campbell.

If you were there, thanks for coming. If you missed it, then seriously consider making the time and showing up if another opportunity arises.

From my perspective, this time was well spent and I left there with an unanticipated comfortable feeling of unity, an erasure of anonymity that so often pervades the stealthy world of blogging.

Admittedly,  the head count wasn’t impressive, but the variety of topics offered for conversation and pursued with thoughtful input by everyone more than compensated for the turnout.

I appreciated the openness and candor of expression by my fellow blogger attendees. I didn’t hear any comments that gave me the impression that anyone was putting on a show or attempting

to be someone (something) that wasn’t genuine. That alone was a refreshing break from today’s commonplace “public poser” mentality.

It was a pleasure meeting all of you in person. I wish each of you a safe and pleasant holiday season and a happy and gainful New Year.

Which health care plan?!

Wednesday, December 9th, 2009

The Senate majority leader, Harry Reid, announced that he and a number of Democratic senators had reached “a broad agreement” to resolve a dispute over a proposed government-run health insurance plan, which has posed the biggest obstacle to passage of sweeping health care legislation. Mr. Reid refused to provide details. That government transparence thing is working out real well. How can we, the taxpayers, be expected to support or oppose legislation that has yet to be released? Yet those on both sides of the aisle are vehemently pushing their plan, whatever that may be. This entire exercise is further support for establishing term limits and evidence that we don’t need professional politicians.
