This is a very insightful post offering the presumption that freedom is the actual right to choose one’s beliefs, interests, pursuits, etc. with the understanding that they may or not be within the parameters prevailing laws and could result in a penalty. Otherwise, the what, when, where and how of doing things seems reasonable so long as these personal choices/actions don’t cause anyone around you any harm or inconvenience.
Keep ‘em coming, you’re offering a diverse range of interesting insights on freedom.

Interesting. Most, save one, of the comments stay within the general concepts of freedoms as defined by bourgeois liberal democracy which are really no freedoms at all, being largely defined around what are called “private property rights”.

A good example of the illusion is the illusion of “Freedom of Religion”. The real freedom would be if mankind were to be freed from the need for religion.

No, that would be not voting at all. But voting for the evil of two lessers is simply not my cup of tea. I proudly voted for Cynthia McKinney in the last presidential election and what do you know-your guy still won. Play the fear card all you like and it still won’t justify your slavish devotion to a corrupt, dying status quo.

So you can keep looking at yourself in the mirror and know you didn’t create the problem but you damn well tried to solve it instead of going along with the herd and doing the same thing you already know doesn’t work. That would be my reason, at any rate.
