Black and White Cookies

Is it a cookie? Or is it Cake? You decide. Either way it’s delicious!!

Black and White Cookies
Preheat oven to 350 degrees

2-1/2 cups flour
1 tsp baking soda
1 tsp salt
2/3 cup buttermilk
1 tsp vanilla
2/3 cup softened butter
1 cup sugar
2 eggs

Whisk vanilla and buttermilk together
In bowl mix flour, baking soda and salt

In mixer beat butter and sugar until creamed
add eggs and beat until combined
Add a quarter of flour mixture and blend, then 1/4 of buttermilk mixture and beat again
keep alternating between both and end with last of flour mixture

Fill pastry bag with no tip and pipe onto parchment lined baking sheet
in 3 inch level circles

Bake for 15 minutes until cookies are light brown and just done in middle

White Icing
1 cup powdered sugar
1 tsp lemon juice
1/2 tsp vanilla
1 to 2 tbs water

Mix in bowl with whisk adding water to make consistency spreadable put not thin

Chocolate icing
10 oz chocolate chips
1 tbs butter

In double boiler over medium heat whisk chocolate and butter until smooth
Let cool for a few minutes before using, If icing gets to thick while putting on cookies put back on double boiler to melt

Ice flat bottom side half of each cookie with the sugar icing and the other half with the chocolate.
