A memorial billboard for Tucson police Officer Erik Hite will be put up Thursday morning.

"We wanted to recognize his service to Tucson and to the nation with this billboard," said Jennifer Kneup, from Clear Channel Outdoor.

The billboard will be up for four weeks at South Kolb Road and East Golf Links Road. Then it will rotate throughout the city for a year, Kneup said.

Hite died June 2 after being shot the previous day during a cross-town chase. David Nickolas Delich, 25, is charged with first-degree murder in the case.

#7. If you don't want to look at it as a memorial, look at it as a reminder that there are a lot more people out there like Delich.

In this day and age, we can't afford to lose people like Officer / Msgt. Hite while deadbeat losers roam the streets.

Like it or not, if someone wants to keep a memorial, it should be done in
their own private home...

I remember they did this for the last slain officer too, Patrick Hardesty. It is a nice gesture indeed and a very appropriate salute to both of these brave men and the dedicated officers who serve us.
