Ryn, I just rented a so-called 2006 “chick flick” DVD called “Samoan Wedding” about 4 Samoan guys living in Auckland, NZ (of all places) and their antics in trying to woo women Down Under. I actually thought it was hilarious, but the husband of a woman friend of mine hated it. He doesn’t like chick flicks either, must be because of what you said, they depict men in a bad light. I liked it because I saw that the 4 guys were all trying to improve, to become better boyfriends and persons. So it goes (Kurt Konnegut saying).

And how about “The trick chick flick”? for example: Gran Torino with Clyde Eastman. In this flick you think it’s gonna be all guy stuff and it ends up a Chick Flick, tricky Hollywood.
