Rynski's Dating Game - Dating tips, tricks and weirdo stories from someone who has had plenty of strange relationships

Gizzards and turkey necks may not be the things of romance, but the Thanksgiving holiday as a whole has a lot of offer as an ideal day to spend with your honey.

Indulge – We all know this is a day to feast, feast, feast. This means folks can stop trying to be dainty about their food intake.

Thanksgiving is not the day to think about fitting into size 4 jeans, but to indulge. Indulge in turkey. Indulge in cranberries. Indulge in pumpkin pie even though we’re unsure why anyone likes that stuff. Then indulge in hugs and kisses – after a brisk post-feast walk and nap.

Embrace – Pouring out your gratitude automatically opens your heart and puts you in a dang good mood. Enjoy it and share it with others. You can even make a “What I most love about you” list and hide it beneath your guy’s or gal’s pumpkin pie plate.

Skip costly gifts – Since we are mainly reflecting on the joyful – and free – gifts we get from family, pets, friends, an awesome boyfriend or girlfriend and daily life, there is no need for all that expensive stuff.

We rarely hear of a Thanksgiving being ruined because a guy bought his love a vacuum instead of a diamond tennis bracelet or she got him season tickets to the opera rather than his favorite football team. Those spats are reserved for Christmas. Speaking of football…

Watch football – If you guys do get cranky at each other, you can always flip on the tube and sit your dude down in front of all-day football.

My traditional football fare for Thanksgiving used to be watching the Detroit Lions lose. That was more certain, even, than knowing those size 4 jeans would no longer fit. Not sure what kind of football we get in this southwestern neck of the woods and I really hope I don’t find out.

If none of this excites you, then there’s always the allure of gizzards and turkey necks.

wb-logolilWhat do you think?

Will you be spending Thanksgiving with your beloved?

Will it be traditional turkey or are you eating roast beef and salmon?

Does he make you buy two different types of stuffing so he can have the one with no onions in it?

Thanksgiving has traditionally always been a great day to watch whoever is playing the Lions knock their collective butts in the dirt.(or turf) They are better than past years though, might even be competitive for a quarter or two. I’m feastin’ with my dahlin’ this turkey day, then I get another with my family on Saturday so some can travel into town. Oh, and Rynski, we always make two kinds of stuffing for the picky ones. Why would someone ruin a perfect stuffing with onions and celery???(unless blended first) :)

i thought lions games only aired in midwest/northeast…we still get lions down here? geesh. no escaping the humiliation (hahah).
glad to hear you also have two kinds of stuffing. do you have two kinds of turkey, in case some don’t like it basted with butter?
have a fine turkey day with your dahlin’ and family. wow! two turkey feasts!! don’t forget the brisk walks – followed by naps!

Naps are always essential after a tryptophan feast.
PS-How do you get your bird to brown without a light coat of butter or oil? Do you like your turkey pale? Looking uncooked?
Do you deepfry it? Microwave it?(yuck) C’mon Rynski, share your secret with us.

Ha! No, that’s only if you put a poodle in one. Never tried olive oil, might just work…
I’m stuffin’ the tom with apples, onions, various spices and herbs(secret recipe) :)

I’ve been busy getting things ready over here already. I’m doing the turkey, mashed taters, gravy, some veggies, two pumpkin pies, one cherry pie (Wesley’s fave) one apple pie (Sebastian’s fave). Mom is bringing two of her famous pecan pies and her home made parkerhouse rolls.
I eat very healthy for the most part. I was raised that way. I baste my turkey with white wine. It tastes really great and moist and browns beautifully.

Maybe next year I’ll be hanging with that ’special someone’. Jeez….I have a pool! It’s heated!! (good selling point??)  LOL!

    • Jennatoolz

Maybe I’m not your ’special someone’ but you’ve got me sold with that heated pool!! Haha :P

I just found out I’m supposed to bring a dessert for the Thxgiving feast at my man’s mothers house tomorrow. Easy enough!

      • azmouse

LOL!  Well, you are special, just not my ‘type’ of special. lol

Any ideas on the dessert? Be creative…I’m assuming they’ll have the traditional stuff already?

A while back, there was an Eggnog cheesecake recipe posted on here. I REALLY want to try it out…I love eggnog, and I love cheesecake so putting them together seems like it would be amazing! I’ll also bring the usual pumpkin pie, in case I eat the whole eggnog cheesecake by myself! :P

Now that I have an oven to bake in, I’ll be baking up a storm!! Haha! :D

Oh yeah, congrats on the new place! I’m really happy for you guys. It sounds like you’ve made many of the same mistakes we’ve all made in our lives, but it’s great you’re getting yourselves back on top. You gotta love it when, even if your credit isn’t the best, you find that one person (like your landlady) that is willing to give you the chance to prove yourself.

Now, the eggnog cheesecake sounds perfect! Cheesecake is allot of work, but that should impress em! I used to make a pumpkin cheesecake and a kahlua cheesecake when the hubby was still alive. He loved them. I’ll have to look up the recipe and see how it’s made. Sounds great and unique. (I’m a recipe junky)

            A recipe I just saw uses rum….YUM!

          • Jennatoolz

Sounds like the same one! I’ve never made a cheesecake before…hopefully it turns out edible, haha. We’ll see!

Ryn! I got to eat turkey made with white wine and ‘herbes de provence’ – it were good!  So mouse, when we going swimmmin’ ? :)
