Thanksgiving date VIDEO
Thanksgiving can indeed be romantic, especially if you keep it quiet, cozy and spend it with someone you adore.

Fun and games with a carving knife/Ryn Gargulinski
My beau and I kept it low key, simply enjoying the critters and the aroma of turkey wafting through the house. We also enjoyed watching the critters enjoy the aroma of turkey wafting through the house.
The highlights were definitely sitting around in shorts, eating a good meal and having fun with the animals. And we even saw a movie that wasn’t half bad. Too bad I can’t remember what it was.
So enjoy the video – and please excuse the high compression rate. The pink scenes which I just noted don’t even show up on high compression are of Lazlo the lizard chowing down on a meal worm.
Please note: Video quality suffers due to the high rate of compression necessary to currently view videos on this site.
What was your Thanksgiving highlight?
What is the best/worst holiday to spend with a significant other? Why?

Meal worms are apparently lip-smacking good. Chickens are also fond of mealworms. Sometimes I sneak out to the coop in the middle of the night and leave meal worms so that I watch the excitement when they “discover” them in the morning.
Did I see a can of Chick Peas in the video. Chick Peas are a wonderful thing; the heart and soul of hummus, one of man’s greatest accomplishments.
November 30th, 2009 on 9:59 am
yes! chick peas – so glad that was apparent, at least.
so sad laz’s meal worm lip smacking is too distorted to view.
how fun to leave little meal worm “discoveries” for your chickens… those things MUST be good – full of protein – as laz just can’t get enough. bet the chickens think it’s like the tooth fairy coming at night, but better (haha).
chick peas rock, as do yams (so long as no one wrecks them with all kinds of marshmallows and stuff). i did also get some hummus, for turkey sandwich leftovers (chick peas went in the salads…)

I love chickpeas . . . !

Looks like you had a very nice Thanksgiving, Ryn. I love how the dogs, especially Sawyer, are right up in all the business.
I tell you, I look forward to the day of a semi-regular sized turkey. It looks so much easier to handle. I had a twenty-three pounder, and it’s hard when they’re that big.
So, no stuffing from scratch? No pies?
I am a huge fan of the Big Boy…….
Did your beau let you have ambiance music playing, or did you opt for the sounds of chewing?
November 30th, 2009 on 10:14 am
hahaha! the sounds of chewing were quite fetching, but i always have classical music on in the background. very good ambiance. the day did start, however, with my blasting yoga chant music which i was tempted to leave in the video except it runs through my head and then i chant it during dog walks.
23 pounder!!! wow on your turkey. it would need like SIX roasters for that size…and five days in the oven (hahah).
no pies, no stuffing from scratch. not a fan of desserts yet for some twisted reason i am a big fan of stove top. i don’t know why.
i, too, love big boy. he nearly melted when we were boiling the bones. thankfully only the salt and pepper shakers were affected. i found big boy all mushy but he had not yet collapsed.
November 30th, 2009 on 10:26 am
I make pies, but I don’t eat them either….two pumpkin, two pecan, two cherry, and one apple for little Sebastian, who’ll be 17 this Saturday…not so little anymore, but still the baby! lol
Wow, big boy looks ceramic. He’s plastic? Even cooler!
So, the beau didn’t mind sacrificing football or pie? Whoa, he IS a keeper! LOL
November 30th, 2009 on 10:34 am
yeah, big boy is one of those kitschy plastic things – a soft plastic that dogs could chew up in a millisecond.
happy bday in advance to apple pie fan sebastian! does he get apple pie with candles instead of a bday cake? hahah.
you sound like a master chef AND baker!
yes, i got a real keeper, esp. with the football and pie aspects – hahah. he does like candy from time to time but i bought him a butterfinger once and he left it in the truck to melt – so i’m exempt from providing candy now, too – hahha
November 30th, 2009 on 10:45 am
LOL!
I’ll give Sebastian the message. He usually requests some cake that requires allot of planning and figuring out on my part. Some examples fo past requests include a half-pike, which is really difficult because of the shape, but was fun to decorate with little skateboarders, etc. a soccer ball (that one required a special cake pan thingy, as did the Scooby-Doo), oh, and one year he requested a green house, of all things. It took four smaller sized square pans and a double amount of cake batter. Then there was the race track cake with black pavement and little cars….What we don’t do for our kids! LOL
glad he’s growing out of that stuff!
Luckily, Wesley always wants cherry pie for his Birthday, and last year my daughter wanted a Baskin Robbins ice cream cake. Those are much easier. lol
November 30th, 2009 on 10:51 am
you ARE a master baker – from scooby to soccer ball…all the way to the racetrack. love it!!
please fill us in on this year’s cake, too.
it must be a nice break to get a baskin robbins ice cream cake request (hahah).

I’ve met that beau of yours Ryn and boy does he dig YOU! It’s a good thing to see that you have such a loving man . . .
November 30th, 2009 on 2:22 pm
aww, thanks andrew!
November 30th, 2009 on 11:12 am
Rynski, your turkey looks delicious, even compressed.
Your pooches are adorable! I’ll bet they love turkeyday. My thanksgiving was doubly wonderful as I got to spend one with my honey, and a second one with my family. PS-I could eat turkey sandwiches year round. I’m also puzzled by what the heck a ‘chick pea’ is…garbanzo beans?
November 30th, 2009 on 11:16 am
Hi maxxie. Garbanzo and chick peas are the same.
Glad you had a nice Holiday!
November 30th, 2009 on 11:31 am
Hi az! Your thanksgiving sounds wonderful also. I’m sure it didn’t matter to dad where he watched the games…(I find the womens cackling to be a distraction from the ‘insightful’ play-by-play and color babbling)
but ya gotta love mom’s interest in his happiness.
November 30th, 2009 on 12:11 pm
Yes, Dad’s happiness is Mom’s number one priority, and vice-versa. Hey, I’m happy they’re still married (fifty years) and I don’t have to do Mom’s house, then Dad’s house, etc. They are very happy!
November 30th, 2009 on 2:24 pm
hey radmax,
pooches were all atwitter with anticipation – then beat from eating turkey treats!
so glad you, too, had a doubly wonderful thanksgiving! hope you had some hounds in there to keep you on your toes (haha).

Once again, I’m stuck working in Oracle (yuck!), which means the computer here won’t allow me to see the video! I’ll have to watch it later.
And, geez azmouse! Can I put in a cake request? I’d like one shaped like a weiner dog. And my birthday is on New Years Eve…plenty of time to plan!!! LOL I’m kidding. That’s amazing that you can do that though. (Ever watch that show Ace of Cakes? I love it!!)
I know how you feel Radmax, when you said in another post that you’re still stuffed! I, too, had multiple feasts this year — one with my family, one with the co-workers (pot luck style!), and one with my guy’s family, plus a housewarming bbq!
November 30th, 2009 on 2:26 pm
jenna – working in oracle?
i drove through there a few times and it doesn’t seem like there’s a lot of places to work there. is your office hidden behind a tumbleweed? haha.
oracle’s triangle L ranch is cool – i have some art there. you can check out the place on a lunch break maybe – meet the goats and take a trek through their art path garden thing.

Rynski-o-rama!
Your holiday looked festive! Love the video and the music! I could see Lazlo happily chowing down on his meal worm . . . and it was also good to note all the other furry (and less furry) members of your tribe having a hand in the proceedings . . .
I ate Thanksgiving dinner at my ex’s and I’m happy to report a good time was had by all!
November 30th, 2009 on 12:12 pm
Sounds like you and the ex left things on a good note. Very nice!
November 30th, 2009 on 1:28 pm
Thanks Mouse – it’s taken some time and a great deal of forgiveness but we make it work – it benefits our daughter immensely and of course, gives us each peace of mind. I appreciate your acknowledgment.
I am committed to a peaceful life full of love and forgiveness.
November 30th, 2009 on 1:45 pm
I completely agree, and I’m amazed how some ‘extended’ families make it all work out these days and remain civil. It’s much easier, although allot of folks lack the maturity to do it.
A peaceful life full of love and forgiveness…A beautiful way to try and live your life. I second that!
November 30th, 2009 on 2:28 pm
andrew -
so glad to hear a good time was had by all…
how very very cool you had tgiving with your ex for your daughter’s sake – and yes, very mature!
i like it. also like your being “committed to a peaceful life full of love and forgiveness.” what a great goal.
