Wrong way on the highway: Morgan Rip Lor, 22
Morgan Rip Lor, 22, crashed and died Nov. 9 after traveling the wrong way on Interstate 10, according to a news release from the Arizona Department of Public Safety.
Lor, of Tucson, had been driving a dark colored, 1997 GMC Jimmy SUV westbound in the eastbound lanes of I-10 near Speedway Boulevard at the onset of his deadly ride.
Lor initially sideswiped a 2002 Ford Ranger pickup near Speedway, not injuring the pickup’s driver but damaging the SUV.
Lor’s SUV was not damaged enough to travel onward, however, and he continued to go the wrong way in the eastbound highway lanes until he crashed into the concrete barrier and a sign post just west of the Miracle Mile off ramp.
That’s when the SUV caught fire and Lor was pronounced dead at the scene. The collision occurred around 2:30 a.m.
DPS had no further information immediately available, such as if alcohol or drugs played a part in the fatal crash, and the investigation continues.
