Morgan Rip Lor, 22, crashed and died Nov. 9 after traveling the wrong way on Interstate 10, according to a news release from the Arizona Department of Public Safety.

Lor, of Tucson, had been driving a dark colored, 1997 GMC Jimmy SUV westbound in the eastbound lanes of I-10 near Speedway Boulevard at the onset of his deadly ride.

Lor initially sideswiped a 2002 Ford Ranger pickup near Speedway, not injuring the pickup’s driver but damaging the SUV.

Lor’s SUV was not damaged enough to travel onward, however, and he continued to go the wrong way in the eastbound highway lanes until he crashed into the concrete barrier and a sign post just west of the Miracle Mile off ramp.

That’s when the SUV caught fire and Lor was pronounced dead at the scene. The collision occurred around 2:30 a.m.

DPS had no further information immediately available, such as if alcohol or drugs played a part in the fatal crash, and the investigation continues.

Martinez was taken to University Medical Center following the 1 a.m. shooting where he died soon after arrival.

Martinez had been inside the club, located at 1104 S. Craycroft Road, speaking with two men and, when he went to leave, he was confronted by several other men who had also been inside the club.

“A physical altercation erupted, which escalated to a shooting,” Pacheco said.

Police believe the suspects are active gang members and gang unit detectives are investigating.

No arrests have yet been made, but Pacheco said police have some promising leads and are still interviewing witnesses and processing the crime scene.

This is the second homicide at the Candy Store Show Club in the past four months.

David H. Tyne, 31, was shot outside the Candy Store Show Club on July 30 in what police say is a gang-related crime. He, too, died soon after his arrival at the hospital.

“Think of Candy Store Show Club as a guaranteed hangover,” according to a post on ClubPlanet.com. “And we mean that in the best possible way. It’s open all night, so it’s a pretty good bet that you’re going to be feeling it the next morning. Enjoy the late-night debauchery, but drink lots of water and pop some Advil.”

The motive for the shooting remains unclear, but police determined that Cliffton Martinez was the one who brandished a handgun and then allegedly shot the victim during the altercation.

Police said the two men were not related.
