Luis Alfonso Flores, 51, died July 14 from injuries he sustained from being shot several times on June 5, a Pima County Sheriff’s Department spokeswoman said in a news release.

Flores had been in the front yard of the family home in the 2600 block of West Quail Road with his adult son when the two were approached by three men, Deputy Dawn Barkman said.

The men demanded the father and son get down on the ground and then shot the father several times.

At the time of the June 5 incident, one of the suspects had been detained and charged with aggravated assault, but the charges were dismissed by the Pima County Attorney’s Office, Barkman said.

Assault has turned to homicide.

No arrests have been made in connection with the homicide, and detectives have no motive.
