I agree that the recession makes it more important for Tucson solar power, and is not an excuse to forget about sustainable energy. This film festival sounds like it will be interesting and educational, and helpful to the local Tucson community too! It's important to be aware of these issues, and a great topic for a film festival.

Hard to imagine a capitalism without constant expansion into new markets and the continual adaptation of new technologies in search for more and greater profits and yet no "growth", however it might be defined for the purposes of discussion. I have to say, I'm skeptical, but I wish them well. A basic tenet of the other of the world's great systems of social organization is that capitalism is incompatible with a non-exploitative approach to resources, whether they be human or material resources.

About 60 people there tonight to view 2 film clips and listen to several speakers discuss sustainability, food distribution, growth, transportation, global warming, water resources, etc. No clear solutions to all of this, but at least this group is working towards consideration of these issues.
Thanks for this post Kate, also got an email alert. About 90 people listened tonight to this discussion by Mayor Rothschild, Councilmembers Romero and Kozachik (Uhlich had to re-schedule) discuss a myriad of topics of sustainability: water resources & harvesting, LEED buildings, transit, solar, walkable/bikeable communities, plastic bags, that Urban Overlay Zone near the UA, infrastructure, etc. Let's hope this conversation continues.

Great- How much on my tuition increase went to the kick back of keeping this POS open?

I have a great study on why this two mule town is fine for mattreses, tires and 80oz Slurpees...Why don't you meet me at a bus stop on Broadway at noonin July and we can hash it over?

Yeah Kate, that has really worked out well in all the cases to date.

That clause is used as an excuse to do everything under the sun (pardon)... What I really need is a Representative. Not that the bat- crazy women's La Canyon lunch crowd won't put her back in if she is told she can run again.

If you don't have the ability to weigh solar as an option, don't think the government is supposed to hold your hand and do your thinking for you- As well as remedy when it doesn't work to your personal satisfaction.

I mean, really; You want a helping hand? Look on the end of your wrist.
