Get it? Because they  both keep getting reinvented? Alright, maybe that is a stretch but safety pins have been through more face lifts than most items in fashion history (maybe not  more than Madonna, but I’m sure it’s close).

What started as a simple fastening device became a standard accessory in 80’s punk fashion, an inspiration for couture fashion designers like Versace, and now safety pins can be found in ornate hair accessories, jewelry, and as graphic designs on clothing.

I have never been one to rock safety pins but some of this stuff is pretty cute… I might become a safety pin convert! Let me know if you have any unique safety pin looks of your own!
