Is this what liberals mean by “civility?” “Free speech?”by Don on Apr. 17, 2011, under Uncategorized
Remember civility? How important it was in Tucson just a few months ago. Hey, the University of Arizona even set up a Civility Institute! Anytime a Republican or Tea Partier cleared his throat, we all heard cries for conservatives…er, I mean “everyone”…to be civil. And, of course, to respect free speech. Remember what Voltaire said: I may disagree with what you say, but I’ll defend to the death your right to say it.
Funny, but everyone seemed to lose interest in civility once the Democrats in Wisconsin found it very useful to unleash their mobs and graffiti artists. And pound on the windows of Republican legislators’ homes at 6AM. (After all, why should Republican children be allowed to sleep?)
I wonder what Arizona liberals—or the Dean of the U of A Civility Institute—will say about this:
Protesters and anarchists harass a peaceful Tea Party event; use sirens to drown out crowd.
From Arizona’s State Capitol “Feet to the Fire” April 15th rally. A Latino female friend of mine from the Arizona Latino Republican Association who attended the rally reported, “As we stood in prayer and for the pledge of allegiance the bullhorn siren blared on. The so-called protesters who declared I am a nazi and racist because I am a Republican, didn’t have the courtesy or respect to turn it off.”
I’m a bit rusty on my PC terminology, but the correct term for members of the Arizona Latino Republican Association is “coconuts,” right? (Brown on the outside, white on the inside—get it?) Like the “Ruth McClung White Bread” that showed up in CD7 mail boxes last November.
A few things that came to mind as I watched the video:
- Check out the lady holding the sign with the Nazi symbol. I’d wondered what happened to Dolores Huerta…now, maybe we know?
- Mexican flag—check. Nazi symbols—check. American flag…..
- Unless this lady is Native American herself, perhaps the Tohono o’Odham would like her to go back where she came from too, along with we Anglos? If memory serves, the Conquistadores weren’t too kind to the Native Americans of Southern Arizona themselves.
- Apparently there is a Arizona Liberals’s Codicil to Voltare’s quote above: We may disagree with what you say, but we’ll defend to the death your right to say it. We do, however, reserve the right to prevent anyone from hearing what you have to say.
If you wonder why Russell Pearce keeps getting reelected, check out this crew of people.
I’m feeling really good about 2012.
Hat tip to Instapundit, one of the many nationally-known bloggers that have heard liberals’ calls for civility, and then seen the utter emptiness and hypocrisy in them.
