Well...I still believe that Jasser lacks a vision. In other words, his position is merely personally and politically motivated. I am very concerned that he does know very little about Brotherhood;whether its political, social, or religious activities. It seems to me that we just need to present the facts and our analysis then the audience will judge what we've communicated with them. It's not my job just to go warn people against certian group because this is my attitude.
The problem is we don't see an objective, balanced view to be presented. There are many famous scholars who can communicate some their experience and informed scholarship with people.

Dear Samy:
Thanks for writing ... what makes you think that Jasser lacks a vision? His vision seemed pretty clear in his talk: to warn people about what he considers the politicalization of Islam. could it be that his vision of Islam - reformed - is just different than others'?

Well..I agree that politicalization of any religion is "bad". But the reality is so different whether in Christianity, Judiasim, or Islam. I think there is a problem with Mr.Jasser's understanding of Brotherhood movement. First, he is not a politcal scientist and missed a lot of info. I claim, from their published literature, those guys DO support the separation between Mosque and state in the US or Europe. But the story is very different in the Middle East. For Example, Israel stresses the "Jewishness" of their state. This means that any non-jewish communities should leave. This is really dangerous& fundamentalist concepts.

Also, Mr.Jasser has a very limited knowledge about these movements. I doubt if he knows that those movements are NOT a political entities at the first place. Actually, they emerged as a SOCIAL movements in the Middle East and then transformed in the late Seventies. This may explain why they're deeply-rooted in those communities. AGAIN, this process is happening in the Middle East NOT in US.

Finally, I'm little bit disappointed when a person speaks without enough knowledge or even a vision...

The politicization of religion is habitual. What's interesting is that reneeschaferhorton pays no attention to the fantasyland known as Christianity and its political behavior...
