About the Author

rephoto2JPGSusan’s life was changed forever when her son was diagnosed with schizophrenia in 2000 at the age of 18.  Getting proper treatment and battling the stigma surrounding mental illness became a full time job and at the age of 23 her son, Daniel, died by suicide while in-patient at the National Institutes of Mental Health.  For the last 10 years Susan has been a tireless advocate for people living with mental illness teaching classes, making presentations, managing the largest mental health fundraising Walk in Southern Arizona and raising awareness about the importance of proper treatment and the reality of recovery.

In her spare time she also sells real estate for HomeSmart.
