I know since I went through this myself and refused to be treated by my OB/GYN by his standard approach of prescribing an anti-depressant. I KNEW that my symptoms were not about a serotonin imbalance. I went to a naturopath, had my hormone levels tested and had that treated as they were, indeed, imbalanced. My irritability, low energy, anxiety have all been resolved with this treatment.
