Recently I had the pleasure of receiving a healing treatment from Mareta Childs. Its a healing experience that she calls Conscious Healing and it incorporates several healing modalities all wrapped beautifully into one incredible treatment!

I’ve experienced many different healing treatments, but none that incorporated Thai Massage, Acupressure, Cranial-Sacral, Reiki, Karuna Reiki® , Reflexology, Essential Oil Therapy, Tapping Therapy, along with Head, Neck, and Shoulder Massage in one treatment. And the most important element of this healing experience is the healing energy that Mareta incorporates. Conscious Healing treats your mind, body and spirit and is designed to sooth and relax the entire body. It was a very meditative experience and I felt a strong connection to my inner being, and I could feel universal energy flowing and vibrating throughout my entire body. I will never settle for a normal massage again!

From this treatment you can expect reduced stress, improved circulation, relief from muscle tension, elongation of your spine, relief from neck and shoulder pain, opening of the hips, and possible emotional relief from the past. It is more than a treatment; it is a SPIRITUAL EXPERIENCE that will bring you to a HIGHER CONSCIOUSNESS!

Mareta Childs

A few years ago I decided that I wanted to really connect with my inner self. I wanted to increase my intuition, and really know my Higher Self – whatever that was. I was starting to work as an EFT practitioner, helping people to release emotional trauma, so what better way to serve my clients than to strengthen my intuition? So I set the intention that I was going to “find myself” but I didn’t know how to go about it, other than to wait for an opportunity to present itself.

I’ve learned that God, or The Universe, or whatever you would like to call the Divine, has a way of orchestrating opportunities for us to move toward our heart-felt desires, and this was no different. Twice in one week I heard a radio ad for Sunstone Cancer Center, a non-profit organization which supported cancer survivors and those touched by cancer. My mother had recently died from breast cancer so I felt a connection to Sunstone, and I wish my mother had known about it during her ordeal.

I looked up their website and among the other services they offered, they had an upcoming 4-day retreat with the title “Connecting To Your Inner Healer”. Perfect! It was just what I was looking for so I signed up right away. I was a little timid at first because I didn’t know what to expect. I had never been to a retreat before so I was imagining that it would be something like a group of new-agers sitting around in a circle chanting! I was afraid that I might have to share my feelings and get all touchy-feely with a group of strangers. But I was still determined to go and check it out - I figured that I could always leave if it got too weird.

Well, it turned out that it wasn’t as scary as I thought it would be. There were other nice people there who were searching for something just like me, and the atmosphere was friendly and supportive, and although I did have to briefly introduce myself, there was no pressure, no judgement, and most importantly, there was no chanting! I found myself really relaxing and enjoying the experience, and just allowing the energy of the group to flow. I had plenty of time to myself and plenty of time for pleasant conversation with the other people attending the retreat. We listened to inspiring music, did some guided meditations, and learned from eachother’s experiences as well as our faciliator’s. It was a very gentle, healing experience that opened my mind to new ideas and new possibilities for my life. The experience gave me a new perspective and yes, it also gave me a sense of trust in myself to open to my own intuition and my inner self.

I returned home to my family much more relaxed and serene than I had been when I left, and although I didn’t feel the earth move or anything, or hear a loud voice saying “This is your intuition speaking”, I really felt that the retreat was a gift and a blessing in my life that I would never forget. Well, that was the way I saw it – my wife noticed something else……

The day after I returned from the retreat I took my wife to lunch, and while we were having what I thought was a normal conversation, she noticed that I seemed to be questioning everything from the meaning of life to my core beliefs! At first she turned pale as if she no longer knew the person sitting across from her. I saw that she was uncomfortable with my new-found open approach to things, so I shut up and tried to act “normal”. After this initial shock, over the next few days we did have more open conversations and allowed ourselves to question things that we wouldn’t have ever considered questioning before. I felt as if I had lived my whole life with blinders on (which I had) and now the blinders were gone, and I no longer had such a narrow perspective of life and other people. I felt a stronger connection, not only with my inner self, but with every other human being on the planet! I felt liberated and free to explore everything the world had to offer, not just what I was brought up to believe. My wife and I were now on this journey together and we haven’t looked back since.

While this new perspective did change our lives in some very real and dramatic ways, it has been a very gentle transition and we are so grateful for our new perspective of life and the world around us. It started with a desire and an intention and grew into something so wonderful and beautiful that changed our lives.

Well, Sunstone isn’t around anymore, but the facilitator of that retreat, Marcey DiCaro joined forces with Barbara Evans-Levine and they now continue their work with Awakening Retreats. And I have had the distinct pleasure of being a guest presenter at their healing retreats! If you would like more information on the value of attending a retreat like this, and for information on their upcoming retreat in May, visit their website at awakeningretreats.com.

Although it sounds like what might happen to Captain Kirk just before Scotty beams him up, its actually a very cool energy healing modality!

Since I’ve been leading Tucson Energy Healers Group now for over 2 years, NeuroModulation Technique, the Feinberg Method, (NMT), is one of my favorite alternative healing modalities to date. I really like the aggressive approach of NMT. I’m of the opinion that if an alternative healing method is worth pursuing, then it should get right down to the business of healing, with some serious intention and focus. And that’s just what NMT does.

I asked my good friend Kent Schaefer to send me some detailed information about NMT and he sent me the interesting article that follows. Also, Kent has a workshop coming up: Chronic Pain Relief with NMT. I will put his contact information at the end of this post if you would like to get more information. Enjoy:

NeuroModulation Technique the Feinberg Method (NMT)
A Unique form of Informational Healing

NMT: A Unique, Powerful, and Scientific Protocol to Promote Healing
The mind-body was created with and amazing intelligence that allows it to produce a fully formed human being from a single cell and to develop into trillions of body cells communicating perfectly to heal the body and maintain vitality throughout it’s lifespan. When that communication fails, the NMT system is a unique and powerful tool by which the practitioner enters into a carefully developed therapeutic dialog with the patients mind-body. NMT uses special routines of questions and corrective training statements that are organized into therapeutic templates known as NMT clinical pathways. Each of these 80 NMT clinical pathways is a window into a specific area of body function. Because the NMT system is exceptionally thorough, there are NMT clinical pathways available to address just about every type of health problem. The NMT practitioner guides the patient through an NMT session by selecting the NMT clinical pathways to be used according to the priority the mind body recognizes to be most effective.

The Development and Focus of NMT

Neuromodulation Technique—The Feinberg Method (NMT) was developed by Dr. Leslie S. Feinberg, D.C. in 2002. NMT has garnered a reputation as highly effective, yet especially safe form of alternative healthcare. Many thousands of people from all over the world have turned to NMT for relief of allergies, and autoimmune illnesses such as arthritis, Crohn’s disease, irritable bowel syndrome, lupus, myositis, scleroderma, inflammatory and other acute and chronic conditions. Much of the focus of the NMT system is to optimize the immune system response to microorganisms that cause disease and for the encouragement of the beneficial flora required for health of the digestive and respiratory tracts and skin. Highly sensitive energetic NMT testing for body awareness and sub-clinical pathogens may signal their presence before they are able to show up on standard lab tests. NMT is also a powerful tool to address longstanding emotional and psychological complaints and phobias. Chronic pain patients often experience a reduction or even complete elimination of their pain within minutes of an NMT treatment. Many patients have found successful resolution of their health issues with NMT when conventional medical care and other types of “complementary” or “alternative” therapies have proven ineffective. For the rest of this article, click here to go to Kent’s blog: http://bit.ly/Ldeux

Friday I had the privilege of having a Arolo Tifar session with Pamela Field, the only practitioner of this energy healing modality in the United States!

Pamela Field lived in Barcelona ( Spain ) for the last ten years. She received her training as an Arolo Tifar Master from Eckard Strohm, the founder of the method. While living in Spain she trained hundreds of Reiki practitioners in Arolo Tifar. She also assisted hundreds of individuals (in private sessions) to restore health and balance to their lives. She is the only certified practitioner and trainer of this unique healing method in the United States and we are lucky to have her here in Tucson! I got to know Pamela when she attended my EFT practice group, and she is a beautiful person with a very clear energy.

Arolo Tifar is considered the active part of Rieki since it involves an analysis of the root cause of an illness, and also includes an energetic treatment much like Reiki (see prior post on Reiki).

Arolo Tifar views the body in five levels: physical, energetic, emotional, mental and spiritual. As I mentioned it consists of an analysis and energetic treatment. The analysis will indicate the field in which the root cause of an illness is located, to treat it directly. This is important because symptoms are always visible, but the root (actual) cause is generally not. It is difficult to heal an illness while treating only the symptoms. I am drawn to “aggressive” healing modalities with a very direct treatment and intention to heal, and Arolo Tifar fits the bill.

Arolo Tifar Session

My experience in the session was one of deep relaxation and I could feel energies clearing. According to Pamela, Arolo Tifar is a very gentle process and most people don’t feel an immediate energy shift, but they may feel shifts in the days following the session. However I was able to feel subtle shifts in my energy during the session. The actual session is done in silence, but immediatly after, Pamela shares with you her impressions during the healing including the root cause of an issue and how it was cleared.

The most noticible effect of the healing, for me, was that of tiredness for a few days after. I didn’t feel fatigued at all, and I knew that I was processing the effects of the healing, so I allowed the continued feeling of deep relaxation which only lasted a short while. Everyone experiences energy work differently, so you may or may not feel the same thing.

Arolo Tifar is expanding rapidly throughout Europe . Pamela arrived to Tucson in May 2009. She is very excited to present this healing method to individuals and energy workers here in Tucson . Pamela will be teaching Level 1 Arolo Tifar on Oct. 24-25 here in Tucson. She is also available for individual sessions. You can learn more by visiting her website www.arolotifar.com.

Reiki is a Japanese healing technique based on the idea that there is “life force energy” that flows through us and gives us life. If one’s “life force energy” is low, then we are more likely to get sick or feel stress, and if it is high, we are more capable of being happy and healthy! It’s that simple! The word Reiki is made up of two Japanese words – Rei which means “God’s Wisdom” and Ki which is “life force energy”. So Reiki is actually “spiritually guided life force energy.” Pretty cool, huh?

Reiki is a simple, natural and safe method of spiritual healing and self-improvement that everyone can use. It has been effective in helping virtually every known illness.

Now, the question is, how can we use it to raise our energy, or help to raise someone else’s energy?

Basically, the giver holds their hands above the receiver’s body and directs life force energy into their body and energy field for the purpose of healing and well-being. It is important to understand that the practitioner is a conduit for the energy and that the healing happens through them, and not by them.

First, let me say that I have had a few Reiki treatments and I have found that, like all energy healing methods, the abilities and the intention of the practitioner make a huge difference. I’ve even had a treatment from an experienced Reiki Master and felt very little, and conversely, I’ve had a treatment from a total novice and I could feel the heat radiating right off of her hands. Even when she was behind me I could feel where she was holding her hands because I felt the heat . It is a very relaxing experience and I highly recommend that you try it!

**** Check the end of this post for information on Reiki Circles in Tucson ****

While Reiki is spiritual in nature, it is not a religion. It has no dogma, and there is nothing you must believe in order to learn and use Reiki. In fact, Reiki is not dependent on belief at all and will work whether you believe in it or not! Because Reiki comes from God (a higher being or the universe, depending on your personal beliefs) many people find that using Reiki puts them more in touch with the experience of their religion rather than having only an intellectual concept of it.

Now this part is cool:

Dr. Mikao Usui, the founder of the Reiki system of natural healing, recommended that one practice certain simple ethical ideals to promote peace and harmony, which are nearly universal across all cultures.

The ideals:

The secret art of inviting happiness
The miraculous medicine of all diseases
Just for today, do not anger
Do not worry and be filled with gratitude
Devote yourself to your work. Be kind to people.
Every morning and evening, join your hands in prayer.

Did you know that even the sound of your own voice can heal you? We are vibrational beings and we respond to sound vibrations. Our bodies as well as our bio-energy field are affected by all sorts of sounds and vibrations. When I first learned about sound healing I decided to do an experiment with sound:

I already knew how powerful our minds are, so I thought that I would see what would happen if I just thought of a sound; to see what reaction I would have in my body. So I imagined a sound in my mind, an even tone, let’s say middle C, and I began mentally humming this note.

Then I imagined the sound getting higher and higher, going up the musical scale. I continued “hearing” the sound getting higher and higher, as high as I could fathom. Then when I couldn’t imagine it going any higher, I took it even higher still and just let it go higher and higher and higher, to a tone that only dogs would be able to hear! The sound got so high in my mind, I almost couldn’t stand it, and then, something happened…..my ears popped! That’s right, my ears actually popped just from thinking about sound getting higher and higher. I also noticed that my energy had gone way up. It was pretty cool – you should try it! I’ve also found that by imagining a sound going lower and lower, just like the example above, is a great way to ground yourself.

Now skeptics will say “it’s just in your head”, and they’re right! It is in my head, that’s the point. After all, energy follows thought – but I digress. I’ll save that for another post – let’s get back to sound healing….

Sound has been used for healing throughout history in many different cultures and religious practices – just think of drumming, chanting, mantras, singing, bells and gongs. And think about how beautiful music makes you feel – relaxed, calm, and serene?

Sound healing practitioners use sound along with intention to facilitate healing. Some use tuning forks, bells, gongs, music, their voice, crystal bowls, and golden bowls like those used by Tibetan monks. Anything that creates a harmonic vibration can be used to heal.

Tibetan Golden Bowls

Here’s a tip – Start singing your affirmations to accelerate your healing and spiritual transformation!

Learning EFT (Emotional Freedom Techniques) 3 years ago was a great way for me to get my feet wet in the world of energy healing; it was free and easy to learn, and it worked! But I soon realized that there were so many other modalities out there, and I wanted to learn them all and I wanted to learn them all now!

I was anxious to know all there was to know, so I got on the Internet and started searching for local groups. I came across Meetup.com and searched for an energy healing group, and while I was disappointed that there were none, I noticed that there was a list of 65 other people in Tucson also interested in such a group! So I stepped up and organized Tucson Energy Healers on Meetup.com. And guess what – people came! This was a great opportunity to invite practitioners of various energy healing modalities to come and give a free presentation to the group once a month.

The group has been growing and going strong for 2 years now and I got what I wanted – lots of free information and training in many different energy healing methods! It’s been an enriching experience for me and all those who attend the free monthly presentations. If you would like to get on the mailing list go to http://energyhealers.meetup.com/296/ you will definitely learn something new. All meetings are free and open to the public. In addition to the monthly presentations, I teach a free monthly EFT intro class and lead a free weekly EFT practice group on Tues nights and all are welcome!

**I will be highlighting various energy healing modalities and local practitioners in this blog. My intent is to educate and enrich the lives of my readers. I am not affiliated with, nor am I compensated for writing about or linking to any website or practitioner unless otherwise stated in the post.**

As I’ve mentioned before, my dad has been in the hospital after a stroke. I was visiting him the other day and experimenting with some patches that are designed to increase energy flow in the body. So I put the patches on his temples to see if it helped with his brain activity.

While I was sitting there talking to him, the nurse came in and said that his oxygen levels dropped, so she put an oxygen mask on him and clipped a monitor to his finger. She was nice enough not to ask why I had put these funny-looking patches on his head!

After a minute or so, his oxygen level raised from 88 to 92 and she was satisfied with that. It then occurred to me that these patches I put on his head just might help his oxygen level, so without saying anything to the nurse, I grabbed them and stuck them on his chest (on Lung 1 for you Acupuncturists). Immediately his oxygen level jumped to 98! The nurse was surprised, I was surprised, and my dad was just happy to be breathing better! Even after I removed the patches, his oxygen leveled out at 97.

My point is, many of us tend to think of energy healing as some sort of woo woo magic that only Shamans can do, or that its just in our imagination (us whacko healers). It’s just not that mystical, but perhaps it’s just misunderstood. Bio-energy that runs through our body is real, and not only can you clear blockages in that energy and increase its natural flow with your mind, but also with needles, tapping, and patches. It can be that simple.
