You would have a good point until people realize 3A is the ONLY divison that does not allow teams to host the second round.
There are more 1A teams and they travel greater distances yet they reward teams in the second round- same for 2A.

We have to ask ourselves which teams benefit from how 3A runs their playoffs.

The emergence of Empire as a state power should change things.

And, yes, the historical powers in 3A do play in Phoenix - so what. The first "A" in AIA stands for Arizona not Maricopa County.

You said, "I find it interesting that the games will be played in the Phoenix area where most of the teams play." Here's a breakdown of where the teams play:

East: Alchesay, Blue Ridge, Payson, Round Valley, Show Low, Snowflake
North: Chinle, Ganado, Holbrook, Monument Valley, Tuba City, Window Rock, Winslow
South: Coolidge, Empire, Florence, Fountain Hills, Globe, Safford, San Tan Foothills, Santa Cruz
West: Chino Valley, Estrella Foothills, Parker, River Valley, Sedona, South Pointe, Wickenburg

I'm not sure why you think most teams play in Phoenix?
