Tryouts were held on Sunday, August 9 at Tempe Diablo Stadium and over 80 athletes tried out for the Angels White scout team for high school juniors. Salpointe 3B Ryan Penaflor was the only Tucson area player to make the team. Ironwood Ridge star Brandon Matthews made the 2011 Angels Red scout team. Matthews has given a verbal to the University of Arizona.
