NFL All–Pro Wide Receiver Wes Welker to Honor Jacob Arzouman

Wes Welker will be visiting Salpointe on Thursday, April 7, as part of the Old Spice Player of the Year Program. Salpointe was randomly selected from among all the entries as the winner of the national sweepstakes and the visit from Welker.
Welker will meet the entire high school football team, then, he will be presenting Arzouman with the certificate of achievement at an after-school assembly.
According to the release, “The Old Spice Player of the Year program recognizes those high school football players who elevate their play and that of their teammates. The honored athlete embodies and exemplifies leadership and performance. ”
High school football coaches from across the country selected one player from their teams as their Player of the Year. Dennis Bene chose Arzouman. In addition, each nominated player in the country will receive a certificate to acknowledge his outstanding accomplishment.
Welker is entering his 8th year in the NFL, his last five with the Patriots. He was undrafted but signed with the Chargers and moved over to the Dolphins after the first game of the season where he stayed until 2007. Welker has been named an All-Pro and Pro-Bowl selection three times.
Arzouman has been awarded or named to: All Region 1st team, All City 1st team, All-State 5A-1 1st team – 24-7football.com, All State 5A 1st team- Arizona Republic, All State 5A 1st team- Arizona Football Coaches Association, NUC-All American Game and the Old Spice Player of the Year.
Arzouman will be an Arizona Wildcat next year.
