Impact games from Tuesday night

Division I Buena (14-3) beat D-II Douglas (12-4) 76-48. The Colts jumped out to a 26-7 lead after the first period.
The victory keeps Buena in the top eight for sectionals. Rincon is sitting at number ten and they need a victory at Ironwood Ridge (3) on Thursday night to move up.

Amphi (16-1) was taken to overtime by CDO (8-8) in a game that could have propelled the Dorados into the playoffs. Tim Derksen scored 26 and Tony Lillard added 19 but CDO had balanced scoring with almost five players in double figures in the upset attempt.
The game was tied 60-60 before the Panthers pulled away to win 72-63 in overtime. Erik Espinosa scored 17 for CDO.

Foothills (13-3) lost at Salpointe (13-3) in the other major D-II game of the night. Despite the 73-69 loss, the Falcons are still ranked ahead of Salpointe, although both teams are headed for sectionals at this point.
Salpointe was winning 51-37 after three periods but Foothills exploded for 32 points in the fourth quarter. Salpointe responded with 22 to stop the comeback attempt.
Foothills must play at 10-6 Cactus Shadows and then against 12-3 Cesar Chavez at home to end their season. It will not be easy.
Austin Nehls scored 26 for Foothills and Cory Carver scored 20 for Salpointe.

Sahuaro beat Catalina and Cholla lost to Flowing Wells in other D-II action. The last few spots for sectionals are up for grabs.

Empire (13-4) beat Sahuarita and the win puts them in line for a D-III sectional berth.

Desert Christian (16-1) and St. Gregory (14-3) are the two top ranked teams after Tuesday night in their section. The two will play each other Friday night in the D-IV finale.
Girls Basketball
Tucson (14-2) plays at Cienega (12-3) Wednesday night in the D-I girls game of the night.

Douglas (15-1) suffered their first loss (Buena) but they still remain on top of D-II. The top 10 teams in Section I are from Southern Arizona. It will be a wild sectional.

Desert Christian (16-1) beat Benson and will finish out their season against St. Gregory (13-4) at home on Friday.
Green Fields (17-0) is undefeated and will finish up against ASDB (6-9) the same night at home.
A Green Fields/Desert Christian match might happen at sectionals.
