Michael Hoard to represent the Cincinnati Reds in Area Code Baseball

August 5-10: Long Beach

Eight regional teams consisting of the top players in the nation will play in a week long tournament in California. MLB teams connected to the games are the Yankees, Reds, Rangers, Brewers, Athletics, Nationals, White Sox and Royals.

Salpointe first baseman Michael Hoard continues his summer accolades by being selected by the Cincinnati Reds.

Hoard was named to the D-II All-State team, the All-Southern Arizona Player of the Year, represented team Arizona in the Junior Sunbelt Classic and he was placed on the Louisville Slugger All-American Team.

Hoard has also committed to play for the University of Arizona, although he has one more year at Salpointe.

    Great rundown Andres.  I know where to go to get my daily high school fix.  That’s for sure. 

    With all the medaling of young Mr. Hoard before his senior year, and with the Reds hot on his trail, you wonder if this kid will don a U of A uni for Coach Lopez.  In baseball, for the most part, it seems that signing that big pro contract out of high school or in the first three years of college isn’t so much a financial concern as it is a chance to get a jump on a MLB career.  What’s your take on that Andy? 

    Here’s hoping we Cat fans get to see Michael turning the double play and lacing them up the alley – smacking ‘em over the fence too — right here at Hi Corbett before he decides to play for pay…
