Salpointe standout Krystal Quihuis paced Salpointe to a victory in the inaugural Nighthawk Invitational held at the Silverbell Golf Course on Friday and Saturday.

The Lancers shot a 27-hole 467 to finish ahead of Notre Dame (514) and Ironwood Ridge (524).

10 varsity teams took part in the invite, the last major one of the fall golf season and the only one held in Southern Arizona.

Quihuis shot a 101 after posting a 33 on the front 9 on Friday. CDO’s Morgan Messick was right behind with a 112.

CDO, Ironwood Ridge, Catalina Foothills, Sahuaro and Salpointe have all qualified for the Division II state tournament to be held October 26-27 at Silverbell. The Aguila Golf Course in the Phoenix area will host the D-I tournament. St. Gregory needs to post two more qualifying scores to get in as a team, although Natassja Meredith has qualified as an individual.

On the boys side, ironwood Ridge has qualified in Division I with Cienega needed one more score. CDO, Sabino and Salpointe are in for D-II.
