Pusch Ridge Christian champion Sarah Macdonald was named Arizona’s Wendy’s High School Heisman finalist on Tuesday along with Snowflake’s Dallin Merrell.
The two were chosen from 20 state finalists (announced on October 29). Besides Macdonald, those finalists included Cristina Oropeza of Nogales and Marcel Renteria of Nogales.
The state finalists were chosen from 727 applications.

The 12 national finalists will be announced up to November 20. Those finalists will win a $2,000 donation for their school and a $100 Wendy’s gift card. Each of the 20 state finalists won a $25 gift card and the two state winners have won a $50 gift card.
The 12 national finalists will earn a $2,000 award for their high school and a gold medal.
One male and one female will get the ultimate prize and will be named national Wendy’s High School Heisman recipients. Those two will be recognized during the football Heisman show on ESPN and they will win a $10,00 gift for their school and a gift card worth $500.
Macdonald has six state titles to her name and runs track, cross country and plays soccer.
