Catalina Foothills set to hire Jeff Scurran
by Andy Morales on Dec. 20, 2012, under SportsJeff Scurran (255-79-2).
Scurran is all set to be named the new head coach of Catalina Foothills on Friday. Foothills went 0-10 last season but Scurran has been here before.
He took a winless Santa Rita team and led them to an 11-2 record in his first season there and then back-to-back state championship appearances.
Foothills will be making a move to Division III next year along with along with Canyon del Oro. Scurran’s hire, however, might have an immediate impact on Sabino’s future enrollment. Sabino and Foothills will both be in D-III but they will be in different sections.
But, the choice of staying to play for Foothills might be too hard to pass up especially for those athletes who must make the long drive around the Snyder Rd impasse to get to school.
This is definitely a game changer. Scurran is also slated to be an assistant coach at the 2013 Casino Del Sol College All-Star Game January 11.
