Former CDO lineman David Catalano doing good for his community this holiday season
by Andy Morales on Dec. 23, 2012, under SportsFormer Canyon del Oro lineman David Catalano is encouraging our community to do more for each other this Christmas season.
Now a defensive tackle at San Jose State, Catalano put his words to practice when he took a homeless man named Darell off the streets and bought clothing for him at a local Walmart.
From Catalano’s Facebook page:
“Today I met a man named Darell. His mother died in 1982 and left him on the streets since. When I met him, the only clothes he had were on his back. I set aside $60 dollars to take this man to Walmart in order to buy him shoes, a sweatshirt, jeans, boxers, and socks. As I approached the register he tried to hand me all the money in his pockets. I had $5.50 change, and put it in his hand instead. I gave the old man a hug goodbye as I dropped him off with his bags. This Christmas I encourage you to go out and do more than just put money in a can. Take the time and effort to change someone’s life. Happy birthday Jesus, hope you like your present. Its the least I can do for you dying on the cross for all my sins.”
Catalano is interested in religious studies and wants to someday be a pastor.
