The low-stroke average trophies for high school golf were presented this past weekend by the Southern Arizona Junior Golf Association and the Durrenberger family who sponsor the awards.

The boys award is named after Gary P. Durrenberger, a former CDO golfer who died days after graduation. Pictured are the low average high school boy, CDO’s Jaime Waltmire, and girl, Salpointe’s Krystal Quihuis. The presenter is Gary F. Durrenberger, an uncle who shares the name of the boy’s award’s namesake who was representing the family.

A quick update on Quihuis reveals that she was selected as an alternate for the ANNIKA Invitational this past weekend on a moments notice.

According to her mother, Krystal missed her Phoenix flight to Florida by five minutes so she had to take a later flight. She arrived in Orlando at 5:40 am on Saturday and teed off at 10 am.

Having been awake since 6 am the previous day, Quihuis shot a 79 with no practice round. She went on to finish in a tie for 59th (79-78-76–233).
