Winter all-star nominations are now being taken. Please submit your favorite athlete for recognition. Please note that I will not accept nominations for athletes who left a team during the season unless there was an injury involved.

A couple of high-profile athletes either quit their team or were removed for other reasons this winter and they will not be recognized on my site no matter how many points a game they averaged.

As always, I do not discriminate against the smaller schools or schools that are outside of the Tucson area so nominate away.

Also, some hints on how to better submit stories if you want me to publish them:

1: Do not submit stories or news releases written in all caps – not even in the headline. I may ask you to rewrite it before I even look at it. My time is getting more and more valuable to me.

2: Do not write in blue, red or any other color besides black. Please change your email settings.

3: All photos must have the name of the person who took the shot.

4: Please include the high school that each kid you want me to write about attends or will attend. This becomes even more important in the summer when incoming freshmen are on travel teams. Include rosters and double check names.

One thing I have found out is that parents get mad at other parents for sending me the wrong name of their kids.

5: Send me anything that deals with sports for youth and high school – even former high school standouts that did something important in college or in life. Ask your child’s sports information director to include me in emails if your child is noted in their local media.
