All Southern Arizona boy’s team were eliminated from the Division III state playoffs with Thatcher and Rio Rico both losing on the road in the second round.

San Miguel failed to advance in the D-IV playoffs but Duncan, St. David and St. Gregory will join Desert Christian in the second round on Saturday night. Desert Christian is a 2 seed and earned a first-round bye.

The D-I and D-II playoffs will continue on Saturday with four local teams hosting the second round of D-II action. All games will be played at 7 pm but 2 seed Catalina Foothills will host Agua Fria at 5 pm.

The Mountain View girls came up short but played a close one against Hamilton in D-I play. The Mountain Lions have to be considered early favorite for multiple post season honors.

Sahuaro was upset at home in the second round of the D-II playoffs and CDO fell on the road. The Flowing Wells girls are the first Southern Arizona team to qualify for the quarterfinal round at any level this year after they squeaked by Arcadia on Friday night at home.

6 seed Flowing Wells will play 14 seed South Mountain at the Jobing.com Arena on Tuesday night.

Safford remains in the hunt for D-III in Flagstaff but St. David, San Miguel, Immaculate Heart and Green Fields lost in the D-IV playoffs.

Duncan, Desert Christian, St. Gregory and Valley Union are still alive in D-IV action.
