University of Arizona pitcher Shelby Babcock pitched a four-hit shutout to help the Wildcats defeat Nebraska 1-0 in their first game at the Hillenbrand Invitational Friday night.
Hallie Wilson doubled to score Chelsea Suitos in the bottom of the fourth inning. It was an unearned run because Suitos wound up on second base via an error charged to Nebraska pitcher Tatum Edwards. Suitos bunted and Edwards threw the ball away at first base beyond the reach of Husker first baseman Mattie Fowler.
Fowler is a sophomore and she and her freshman Nebraska teammate Sammi Noland graduated from Canyon del Oro.
