For the second time in the eight-year history of the Sollenberger Classic, the 2013 games are heading to Nevada. The AIA and NIAA are also proud to welcome Station Casinos, LLC. as the presenting sponsor for the Sollenberger Classic. The games will be held at Bishop Gorman’s Summerlin campus in Las Vegas.
On Saturday, August 24, an AIA Division II semi-final team, Salpointe Catholic, will compete against the NIAA’s Division I runner-up, Liberty High School, at 7 pm.
The Lancers are coached by Dennis Bene, and entered the 2012 Division II state playoffs as the No. 1 seed with no losses to Arizona schools. In their semi-final game, Salpointe lost to No. 4 Centennial 28-14, and finished the year with a record of 12 wins and two losses.
Liberty Head Coach Rich Muraco leads the Patriots to their first Sollenberger Classic, as runner-up in the 2012 Division I state championship. The Patriots finished the 2012 campaign with a record of 11 wins and two losses.
Tickets for the Sollenberger Classic are $10 for adults, $5 for students (ages 6-18) and children 5 and younger admitted free.
