The National Fastpitch Coaches Association released its NJCAA Division I All-American list on Wednesday as four players from Pima Community College were selected.
Sophomore shortstop Aubre Carpenter (Sabino) was named First Team All-American. She led the team in fielding assists (161) and was second in stolen bases (29). She signed her letter of intent to play for Indiana State.
Sophomore pitcher Yvette Alvarez (Sahuarita) and sophomore outfielder Cynthia Pelayo (Vision) were selected Second Team All-Americans. Alvarez, who will also play for Indiana State, threw 298 innings, finished with a 33-14 record and a 2.02 ERA with 214 strikeouts. Pelayo batted .440 on the year with 61 RBIs and was second on the team in walks (32) and stolen bases (23).
Sophomore outfielder Gemma Contreras (Salpointe Catholic) was named Third Team All-American. She led the team in stolen bases with 38 and runs scored with 75. She was second on the team with 94 hits.
