Tuesday night brought us to the Arthur Pack fields in Marana to take in a 10-11 playoff game between Western and Coronado.
Coronado went on to win the game in four innings by a score of 13-2 thanks to an eight-run second inning that put the game out of reach for Western. Coronado scored two in the first and then eight in the second before Western was able to recover defensively.
A scoreless third inning gave way to three more runs for Coronado in the top of the fourth to go up 13-0. Western responded with two runs in the bottom of the fourth but the run-rule came into effect to end the game.
Going from top to bottom for Coronado, Eli Pallanes went 2-4; Cole Madril went 2-4; Klaus Wyatt went 2-3; Jackson Bolin picked up two RBIs; Rylund Gonzales and a 2-RBI double; Quinn McKearney and an RBI double; Ronan Ottley had an RBI double; Brennan Tryk picked up a hit and Luke Straka put down a sacrifice bunt.
Bolin pitched into the fourth inning for Coronado but Tryk came in relief after Deago Romero reached on a walk, Ricardo Soto hit a 2-run homer and Marcos Arizpuro followed with a double.
Tryk was able to induce a double play but Austin Barrow followed that with another double. Tryk picked up the last out to end the game. Amaury Soto also picked up single for Western earlier in the game.
Jesus Martinez and Romero pitched for Western.
