District 8 covers the rest of Southern Arizona.
Rincon (3-1) stayed alive in the District 12 Little League All-Star playoffs with a 7-5 win over Copper Hills (2-2) in the Elimination Bracket Monday night at the Field of Dreams Complex.
Rincon beat Copper Hills 1-0 in the first round on Monday, July 1 and then beat Pantano on Tuesday, July 2 before falling to American on Saturday to fall into the Elimination Bracket. Meanwhile, Copper Hills beat Freedom and Sunnyside to force the rematch with Rincon.
Copper Hills (Sahuarita) struck first with three runs in the top of the first but Rincon (Vail) answered with two in the bottom of the first and another run in the second inning to tie it up 3-3.
Landon Hall singled and Angel Ochoa reached on error to set up a 2-RBI single from Jose Dicochea with two outs. Jeremy Nicholson would drive in Dicochea later in the inning to put Copper Hills up.
Jordan Elliott and Luis Morales (no relation) drew back-to-back walks to lead off the bottom of the first and Thomas Webb singled to center to bring them both in. Ochoa struck out three batters in the inning to keep Copper Hills ahead but Axel Willian doubled to start off the bottom of the second for Rincon.
Louie Riesgo brought in Willian on a chopper to second base to tie the game up 3-3.
Copper Hills plated two more runs in the top of the third inning to retake the lead 5-3 and they held on to that lead until the bottom of the fifth inning.
Mason Young hit a triple to start the top of the third for Copper Hills and then Jose Dicochea singled him home. Alexandro Dicochea hit a sacrifice fly to score Jose Dicochea to put Copper Hills up 5-3.
Elliott singled to lead off the bottom of the fifth and then Morales walked. Ryan Grabosch tripled to bring in the two runners and then scored himself on a passed ball to put Rincon up 6-5.
Leo Ocasio was walked with two outs and he would later score on another passed ball to put Rincon up 7-5 entering the sixth inning where Rincon relief pitcher Andrew Reyna stopped Copper Hills from getting on base.
Willian pitched into the fourth inning and had five strike outs. Reyna picked up the win for Rincon and he added three more strike outs to the total. Ochoa pitched into the fifth inning for Copper Hills and Omar Felix and Ian Ponce made appearances on the mound from there.
Jose Dicochea went 3-3 with 2 RBIs for Copper Hills and Mike Villa picked up a single.
Rincon will play Tuesday night at 6 pm in the next round of the Elimination Bracket held at the Field of Dreams Complex.
