Tucson City Golf Match Play Championship
August 31-September 8
Desert Christian senior Nick Latta went up against former Rincon standout Ben Bradford in the final round in the Urich Division of the Tucson City Golf Match Play Championship Sunday morning.
Latta was down two holes at the turn but pulled to within one after 11. Bradford took the 12th but Latta rebounded to take the 13th and 14th to square the match.
Both golfers halved the 15th and 16th and Latta won the 17th to put him 1 up going into 18 where Latta hit his second into the hazard and was forced to take a drop. Latta almost holed his pitch after the drop and Bradford countered with a near hole out of his own. Both putts were conceded and they went to replay the 1st hole.
Latta hit first and put his drive down the left rough and Bradford hit it down the middle and then hit his approach to within 15 feet for birdie. Latta hit his approach to 30 feet for birdie.
Latta’s putt broke off at the end and missed on the low side and Bradford made his putt for the win.
