From the AIA: Football brackets and final rankings for Divisions I through 5 will be released Saturday, November 2 beginning at 9 a.m. Those will be revealed during the live AZPreps365 Radio Show, which can be heard on 620 KTAR and seen live on www.aia365.com.
These are the rankings heading into the final regular season week:
1: Salpointe (9-0) Section 5 Champs
8: Sahuaro (8-1) Playing for Section 2 championship against Cienega. Also looking to stay in top 8 to host a first round game.
10: Mountain View (6-3) Only a disaster can keep them out of the playoffs.
11: Tucson High (7-2) Trying to rebound from loss at Mountain View but they play Salpointe. Should still be playoff team.
15: Ironwood Ridge (5-4) No points from Vista Grande game. Will need to finish in top 15 due to Section 4 being weak. If Cienega gets in then The Ridge will need top 14 finish.
17: Buena (5-4) Slim chance.
20: Sunnyside (5-4) Not sure enough to get in top 15.
21: Cienega (3-5) Needs to win section.
7: Sabino (7-2) Section 2 champs. Playing for home field.
8: Canyon del Oro (8-1) Section 5 champs. Also playing for top 8.
13: Catalina Foothills (7-2) Playoff bound.
9: Safford (7-2) 4-1 in Section 2 with loss to Sahuarita.
10: Sahuarita (6-3) 4-1 in Section 2. Playing for section championship and trying to get in top 8.
14: Rio Rico (6-3) Win last game to secure playoff spot.
16: Walden Grove (5-4) Needs huge upset over Safford to get in playoffs.
19: Palo Verde (5-4) Disappointing 3-game slide has them needing to beat Sahuarita to get in the playoffs.
4: Thatcher (8-1) Playing Morenci for Section 3 championship.
9: Pusch Ridge (8-1) Section 6 champs. Last game against Imagine Prep is cancelled. Tough break for a team trying to get in the top 8.
14: Benson (6-3) Needs to beat Tombstone to stay in the hunt for a playoff spot.
4: St. David hosts 5 Mogollon in the second round of the state playoffs on Saturday night.
10: Duncan lost to No. 7 Ray 28-0 in the first round.
