Arizona Senator John McCain has a history of picking losers — first, Sarah Palin and now Mitt Romney
by Dee Dee Garcia Blase on Jan. 03, 2012, under 2012 Presidential elections, Hispanic Latino Vote, Joaquin Luna DREAM Act, Russell pearce Special Elections RecallJust when you think the whacky state of Arizona couldn’t get any whackier….our Senator John McCain makes a boneheaded move and makes an early endorsement of Mitt Romney a/k/a Mr. Wall Street and anti-DREAM Act. John McCain has a history of picking losers like Sarah Palin who ended up endorsing extremist politicians like Nevada Candidate Sharron Angle and Tom Tancredo of Colorado. Now he is picking another loser — Mitt Romney.
At least one good thing happened recently when Arizonans saw extremist State Senator Russell Pearce get taken down by a man of reason and one could easily argue that we are getting back on track in the new millennium during a time when extremist politicians are wanting to take us back to a pre Civil Rights era. That said, John McCain STILL appears to be holding a grudge against Latinos who overwhelmingly voted for President Obama in 2008.
Why else would McCain endorse Romney early on over Newt Gingrich? Is this McCain’s way of getting a political jab against Rick Santorum since Santorum endorsed Mitt Romney over McCain during the 07/08 Presidential primaries?
Either way, the people of Arizona know McCain has a history of holding grudges and what McCain says and does has little influence when it comes to Latinos. He used to be the “great white hope” for immigration reform, but it is no longer the case when he voted against the DREAM Act vote in December 2010.
Now John McCain and Mitt Romney are two peas in a pod — both are anti-DREAM Act and they can now both sleep well at night knowing they destroy children’s dreams.
