Where was Jonathan Paton’s leadership at when Governor Jan Brewer raised taxes on Arizonans?
by Dee Dee Garcia Blase on Feb. 14, 2012, under 2012 Presidential elections, female-led political movement, Hispanic Latino Vote, National tequila party movementThe hypocrisy within the Republican Party can be reprehensible. For instance, in the State of Arizona, we are seeing Republicans like Jonathan Paton picking a fight with female politician, Ann Kirkpatrick, regarding tax increases but we did not see his alleged “leadership ability” when Republican Governor Jan Brewer raised taxes on Arizonans. The time for him to show his so called “leadership quality” would have been when Brewer raised taxes. Did he think we forgot? We didn’t.
The time to show leadership is when it is not popular to do the right thing. It is easy for Jonathan to pick on girls when they are on the opposite sides of the political spectrum, but when we needed him to rise to the occasion — he was nowhere to be found when his own Party colleague raised taxes on fellow Arizonans.
Fact of the matter is — no Arizona Republican politician can state they are for less government and less taxes because these are the same ones who came to the aid of Republican Governor Jan Brewer when she raised taxes on us. These are the same large government Republicans who are for imposing government bureaucracy on small businesses via national e-verify or e-verification. These “Republicans” should not preach less government and less taxes when they do not have the spinal fortitude to stand up against their own.
From the Jonathan Paton campaign:
Today marks the Arizona Centennial, when we celebrate 100 years of statehood. And yet today, our proud state and our way of life is under siege by a federal government that is out of control.
It has been more than 1,000 days since the Democrat-controlled Senate has passed a budget. Meanwhile, our nation’s debt continues to spiral upward, estimated by the Office of Management & Budget to nearly double to $25.9 trillion by 2022.
President Obama’s solution? He finally proposed a budget yesterday — a plan so bold that it includes $1.9 trillion dollars in new tax increases and “revenue enhancers”. Never have we had a president so boldly out of touch with the will of the American people.
This is the kind of stuff that makes Ann Kirkpatrick wish she was still in Washington. As a Congresswoman, Kirkpatrick rubber-stamped all of Obama’s radical programs, including Obamacare and the failed stimulus bailouts to his campaign bundler cronies. Does anyone think she won’t do it again? <snip>
