Grassroots Event: Democrats Protesting the Maricopa County Democratic leaders

by on Jun. 11, 2012, under 2012 Arizona Elections, Hispanic Latino Vote, Independent voter centrist moderate swing vote

Not only is there a division within the Arizona Republican Party, the Arizona Dem mutiny continues. It is no wonder the Independent Party is the 2nd largest party in our state and is increasing in size.  It confirms I made the right decision to become a registered independent voter.

First a little Arizona Democratic background from 3 years ago:

Six Activists, A Mysterious Proposal, And Dem Party Mutiny in AZ

Now let’s fast foward to the current mutiny taking place:

Angel Garcia is a Latino Democratic activist in the Phoenix area.  He is angry at the leadership of the Maricopa County Democratic Leadership … so much so that protests have been organized every Friday between 9 a.m. – 1 p.m. and every Saturday between 9 a.m. and 11 a.m. at the MCDP headquarters which is loacted at 2914 N Central Ave, Phoenix, AZ 85012.

What’s the reason?

One reason is Ann Wallack who is the Maricopa County Democratic Party Chair.  Apparently, Ann is using her official status and title to endorse democratic candidates BEFORE the Democratic primary election.  (In other words, she is an elitist who doesn’t want your ordinary democratic voter to decide for themselves who the winner should be).  Imagine that. In fact, according to Angel Garcia, Ann told a room full of people that she “wined and dined” Paul Penzone for sheriff.  According to Garcia, he says that based on the interpretation of the Democratic Party bylaws, Ann Wallack should not have endorse any candidate before the primary election while utilizing her official status / title.  Garcia is currently looking into this based on previous interpretations and I will follow up with him later this week.

Several democratic voters are coming forward and protesting her this Friday and Saturday.  Robert Hernandez McDonald Jr. is also  proud to be a Democrat, a Democratic PC and State Committeeman and wants to take back his party from special interest groups.

The theme: Democrats are protesting Democratic Party leaders.

Garcia told me that he has been requesting “seed money” for Hispanic outreach to no avail.  Why is that?  I for one am in agreement with Garcia that there needs to be more Hispanic outreach.  The Democratic Party cannot take advantage of Latino voters anymore. If anything, they must support Latino candidates in order to compete with regard to the fastest growing demographic in our Nation.

If you want to learn more about the Democratic voters protesting Democratic Party leaders, please contact Angel Garcia at  623-418-6056 or write him at latinohumanitarian@gmail.com.  Protests have been ongoing and will continue every Friday and Saturday until the MCDP leadership rights their wrongs. Protests are every Friday between 9 a.m. – 1 p.m. and every Saturday between 9 a.m. and 11 a.m. at the MCDP headquarters which is loacted at 2914 N Central Ave, Phoenix, AZ 85012.
