Mexican-American / Latino Voters: 2 GOP Sins to Remember are Voter Suppression Laws and Legal Immigration Reform in 2014 & 2016by Dee Dee Garcia Blase on Jun. 25, 2013, under 2014 elections, 2016 Presidential Elections, chicano vote, Hispanic Latino Vote, Independent voters, veteran voters, Women Voters
It is no secret Kris Kobach has become the face of the Republican Party. It is also no secret Republicans have made every effort to introduce laws that suppress minority rights without minorities reaching parity first.
But, Mexican-American / Latino voters who make up almost 70% of the Latin population pie will remember come 2014 and 2016 election time.
We will remember by getting on the early voting ballot system — and we will mail in our ballots on time.
We will micro-target all high “Hispanic” populated areas and we will vote the GOP out who did not support us via legal immigration and our voting rights.
We will participate more aggressively and encourage more of us to run for political office.
More Chicano voters will switch as independent registered voters so that neither Party can take advantage of our voting behavior but we will encourage those who want to run for political office to run under the (D) ticket.
The GOP has lost it’s soul, but we will micro-manage Democratic Party in the southwestern states of our Union to get an accounting of Latin precinct committeemen. Are Latin interested represented fairly in local politics?
We will create a list of Republicans (and the few Democrats) that vote against fixing the broken immigration system because we all know that the immigration issue must be fixed at the federal government level.
We are the fastest growing demographic in our Nation, and we must send a strong signal to the GOP come 2014. It’s an off-year election cycle, but the devil doesn’t sleep – and neither should we.
Just as we ensured the GOP Presidential Candidate Mitt Romney did not win in 2012 because we remembered the GOP sins of their 2010 DREAM Act vote, so shall we remember the 2013 immigration voting sins of the GOP come 2014 and 2016.
We remembered the actions of 2010 when politicians asked for our Latino vote in 2012. The only 3 Republican Senators who do NOT have blood on their hands are Senators Robert Bennet, Dick Lugar, and Lisa Murkowski. We warned Republicans in 2010 and they scoffed at us — but we scoffed at GOP when they failed in 2012.
If House Republicans do not do what is right by fixing the broken immigration system in a legal manner, we will remember come 2014 and 2016 because we have already decided to counter voter suppression laws by stepping up our get out the vote messages now.
Will they repeat their political failures?
