The National Iranian American Council Should Rebuke Mohammad Abdollahi for Referring To Our Nation as “Amerikkka”by Dee Dee Garcia Blase on Aug. 02, 2013, under chicano vote, Cultura, Culture, Legal Immigration Reform
It appears Mohammad Abdollahi (an immigrant of Iranian descent and it is unclear if he speaks Arabic or not) may have received asylum. If this is the case, Mohammad has no business encouraging DREAMers of Mexican descent to self-deport (which is exactly what restrictionist Republicans want to have happen).
According to ABC NEWS:
Abdollahi, a 24 year-old Iranian who was raised in Ann Arbor, Michigan, came to the U.S. as a child when his parents immigrated to study at a state university. He says he learned of his undocumented status in high school, which is also when he first began identifying as a gay man.
“It wasn’t until I was 17, 18 that I began connecting the dots,” he said of his situation. “I grew up in a very Muslim family. I didn’t know what ‘gay’ meant. … I didn’t understand the gap.”
Abdollahi is now facing that “gap” head on, with the looming prospect of deportation to Iran where homosexuality is a capital crime. He was detained by Immigration and Customs Enforcement authorities after a protest in May, and his removal proceedings are scheduled to commence later this summer.
“It’s not something I can imagine,” he said of the thought of returning to Iran. “It would be a very scary thing because I haven’t hidden my sexuality in talking with friends or the media.”
Mohammad believes it is a good idea to embarrass President Obama even though Obama has promised to sign a legal comprehensive immigration reform bill.
I believe the National Iranian American Council ought to step in and rebuke Mohammad’s actions of referring to our Nation as Amerikkka and making disparaging remarks about “whitey.” When he is seeking our Nation as a safe haven.
I know the National Iranian American Council does everything in it’s power to encourage healthy and productive ideas and they pride themselves on good positive images within the Iranian-American community.
It is not smart for Mohammad to make disparaging remarks against white people when we all know the majority in Congress are white males with gray hair, and his approach is hurting real immigrants who cannot receive asylum.
As a veteran of the United States Air Force, I personally take issue with Mohammad referring to our Nation as Amerikkka. He certainly does NOT reflect the attitude of Mexican-American voters and he is a cancer to legal immigration reform. If Mohammad views our Nation so poorly — why does he want to remain in it? In our Nation? If he supports Mexicans self-deporting …. why doesn’t he self-deport?
It is already bad enough for Chicanos in Arizona to hear the restrictionist Republicans with their rhetoric when they have tried to connect terrorism to the Mexican border and Mexican wall. I am sick of far right winger politicians in Arizona equating the Mexican Border to terrorism! The Amerikkka bullshit needs to be DAMNED! Arizonans remember too well when JD HAYWORTH and other Republicans were equating with what happens at the Mexican border to terrorism! Enough is enough.
Mexican immigrants are not the ones strapping bombs on their person at our border as some far right wingers would have you believe. J.D. Hayworth, the ousted Senator Russell Pearce of Arizona have tried to equate terrorism to what is going on at the Mexican border and WE ARE SICK OF IT! Actions of so-called DREAMer Mohammad do not help the efforts of legal immigration reform when he refers to our Nation as Amerikkka.
We hope to see the National Iranian American Council rebuke the actions of Mohammad forthwith.
