Fire Union Chris Crane or Decertify ICE Union for failing to carry out Presidential Directive on Immigrationby Dee Dee Garcia Blase on Oct. 05, 2013, under Legal Immigration Reform
Why are AFGE and the AFL-CIO turning a blind eye with regard to ICE Union failing to carry out Presidential directives? Will it take an internal mutiny situation by over 30% of ICE union members to buck the system?
Have Tea Party Republicans thoroughly instilled fear in the ICE Union boss Chris Crane that immigration reform will kill their jobs? Why is Chris Crane used by numerous Tea Party and/or conservatives and restrictionists to carry out their underlying anti-immigrant agenda?
In 2011, and according to the New York Times:
John Morton, the director of Immigration and Customs Enforcement, laid out more than two dozen factors that its agents and lawyers should weigh when deciding whether to exercise prosecutorial discretion to dismiss a deportation. The memo called for “particular care and consideration” for veterans and active-duty troops, elderly immigrants and minors, and those brought here illegally as children.
In August, the homeland security secretary, Janet Napolitano, announced additional measures to put Mr. Morton’s guidelines into effect, including a review of all deportation cases — about 300,000 — currently in the immigration courts, with the aim of closing cases that do not meet the administration’s priorities.
In a report released Wednesday, the American Immigration Lawyers Association and the American Immigration Council collected 252 cases from lawyers across the country who had asked Mr. Morton’s agency, known as ICE, to exercise prosecutorial discretion to spare immigrants from deportation. “The overwhelming conclusion is that most ICE offices have not changed their practices since the issuance of these new directives,” the report found.
Yet a Vast Majority Of Immigrants Are Held In Local Jails For Non-Serious Offenses despite Presidential directives by the Obama administration.
We will be conducting a letter campaign to the ICE union leaders to find out why they are ignoring Presidential immigration directives. President Obama has no authority in union decertification process, but ICE union employees should consider commencing the decertification process of ICE or fire ICE union boss Chris Crane for corrupt misinformation he is spreading at the expense of our national security.
The ICE unionleadership has become corrupt, and just plain inept — and ICE union employees need to be informed with regard to ICE union failed leadership who are taking cues from the Tea Party Republicans responsible for spreading misinformation with regard to the impacts of immigration at the expense of our National Security. Indeed the 2013 Legal immigration reform bill is a major step forward in securing our Nation because only after everyone is registered and documented will we know who is in our Nation and where we can find them. We know that once we fix the broken immigration system, and once we document all immigrants — then they can feel safe to help law enforcement agencies to target criminal activity without the fear of deportation when they report suspicious activity to the law enforcement authorities. Therefore, bringing the immigrants out of the shadows will only strengthen our Nation’s security.
Here are the Presidential directives ICE boss Chris Crane is failing to carry out:
David Leopold, past President of AILA nails it and states:
Crane’s comments hardly reflect what the ICE union’s rank and file think is good for America. They demonstrate the self-interested fears of an entrenched bureaucrat attempting, at all costs, to resist positive change; a desperate hold on a tired policy that has outlived its effectiveness. Unfortunately, for the ICE union’s many hard working agents, Crane’s knee-jerk, mutinous reaction to President Obama’s immigration enforcement policies is narrow minded, short sighted, and misses the point. The danger to an American community is less likely to come from a gifted student than from a dangerous felon or terrorist.
But where does Crane come off attempting to set administration policy? Since when does the soldier tell the general what to do? It is nothing less than shameful, indeed scandalous, that this ICE bureaucrat would work in cahoots with the president’s political opponents to thwart legitimate policy objectives. Crane’s statements are chalk-full of unsubstantiated allegations and vitriolic language but short on considered analysis. Not surprisingly, Crane offers no immigration policy solutions.
