Lawyer (Related to Mitt Romney) Guiding Dream 30 Via David Bennion Learning What We Warned DreamActivist Aboutby Dee Dee Garcia Blase on Oct. 30, 2013, under 2013 Arizona Elections, 2014 elections, 2016 Presidential Elections, chicano vote, Independent voters, Irish Vote, Irish vote in Massachusetts, Legal Immigration Reform, Mexican-American / Chicano political activism, Mexican-Americans and Chicanos are patriotic, veteran voters, Women Voters
A DREAMer shared the below internal email from David Bennion who is the lawyer giving advice and/or guidance to the DREAM30, DreamActivist.org, The NIYA, Mohammad Abdollahi and Prerna Lal. David Bennion is related to the Mitt Romney family so I am not surprised to see karma hit him so quickly.
We tried to warn those who are following Mohammad Abdollahi (Iranian immigrant) that this would happen. Mohammad is one of the leaders to this whole pseudo DREAM Act debacle and in fact, we believe Mohammad is the false prophet of the immigration rights movement in light of him asking for thousands of dollars in the name of “legal coyote.” We were forced to report these people to the FBI. We knew Mohammad and DREAMActivist.org were the false prophets when they were focusing their protesting efforts against Democratic politicians like Senator Bob Menendez and Rep. Henry Cuellar who are on the record for supporting legal immigration reform. In fact, not too long ago the Cuban American Sen. Bob Menendez sponsored and introduced an immigration reform bill all alone before the Gang of Eight bill was introduced and he should receive credit for that.
David Bennion has been working with Mohammad Abdollahi and Prerna Lal (Fijian immigrant) ever since he helped with the Pennsylvania Dream Activist chapter, and even though Bennion is an immigration lawyer — he has a lot to learn about reality. I believe Bennion has contributed to giving false hopes to the under-educated minor immigrant community. He has not been realistic in pushing his open borders agenda. Most genuine immigrant rights’ leaders understand that the Republican-controlled House of Representatives would never go for an open borders idea.
But David Bennion, Mohammad Abdollahi, and Prerna Lal have not been alone in promoting half-wit ideas. We also saw Julio Varela — a Puerto Rican web developer for Al Jazeera cheer-leading for the likes of Mohammad and DreamActivist.org. Varela also contributes his opeds to NBC Latino and has been instrumental in beginning “Latino Rebels.” Indeed DreamActivist.org and the National Immigrant Youth Alliance (NIYA) have been working with ANSWER, and it did not surprise us to see ADL list ANSWER as one of the top 10 anti-Israel groups. Many Mexican American voters want nothing to do with playing the victim card and we have been working on strengthening Mexican American and Jewish ties. I believe Al Jazeera has some questionable history. We can recall when Dave Marash, a veteran correspondent for ABC’s Nightline who resigned from his position as Washington anchor for Al Jazeera English in 2008 due to a perception of anti-American bias, and asserted, “They certainly aren’t anti-Semitic, but they are anti-Netanyahu and anti-Lieberman and anti-Israeli.”
In the below email from David Bennion, you can clearly see signs of defeat. Now Mexican Americans are saying: “I told you so.” But their collateral damage have not only cost us more Arizona and Texas American tax payer dollars, it also means their abuse of asylum hearings are gonna hurt people who are really in need of asylum. Remember, one has to show country wide persecution with asylum. Their simple-minded efforts have also signaled to Republicans like Arizona Rep. Matt Salmon the need for more border enforcement and stricter laws. However, the Mexican American community will continue to remind those Republicans how a man like David Bennion [who is related to the Mitt Romney family] helped the Iranian and Fijian immigrant led efforts via DreamActivist.org and NIYA. These people are also guilty of exploiting Mexican under educated minors with the help of a Puerto Rican cheerleader via Al Jazeera and Latino Rebels.
34 entered on Sept. 30, all were detained, one released that night on parole, 7 parents and minors paroled the next day for “significant public benefit.” 1 UAC minor was later released for possible SIJS, the 25 others are the classic “dreamers” and all have gone or are going through the credible fear process. 12 were reinterviewed by the asylum office after the initial interview because, as the asylum office told me, these are high profile cases. 16 were approved by the asylum office, 9 denied. That is a 36% denial rate, far higher than the national average of 9% in FY2013, especially considering all are fluent in English and were represented by counsel, and none had negative credibility findings. 1 denial was overturned on review by the IJ, and Rocio was deported this morning after the IJ confirmed the asylum office’s denial of credible fear. She’s from Veracruz, where the Zetas already kidnapped her aunt and uncle. The other 7 denied cases are awaiting review by the IJ, but I am not optimistic. The 17 approved cases have been held nearly a week after approval, with no explanation why they haven’t yet been paroled per ICE policy. Several went on hunger strike over the weekend. Yesterday, ICE took them to the hospital and requested a court order to force feed them. The doctors said there was no medical justification for that at this stage. The clear message from DHS is: don’t try this again. We don’t care if you were once a Dreamer, once you set foot outside the U.S., it’s as though you were never here. Actually worse, b/c now you have ULP bar and presumed immigrant intent, so good luck coming back.
And I leave you all with this:
In my view DreamActivist.org and NIYA have been falsely claiming victory in the past. Amidst all of this pseudo DREAM Act debacle and wasting more tax payer dollars on detention centers, not one person from DREAM 9 and DREAM 30 were given citizenship yet. The ones who made it back in are in asylum limbo. A few (like Lizbeth Mateo) who were eligible for DACA but did not take the time to fill out the paperwork self deported herself via the DREAM 9, and now their asylum hearing process appears to be in jeopardy. It is no wonder why leaders like Mohammad and Prerna did not take their own “self deportation” ideas via the DREAM 9, because they wanted to use under educated Mexican minors as guinea pigs before it affected their own citizenship. Now the asylum loop holes (they believed they found) are now affecting others who really need asylum, and those loop holes are now closing as a direct consequence of DreamActivist.org and NIYA’s moronic ideas.
Let American immigration history record that not one single established DREAM Act leader pushed back against the likes of Mohammad via DreamActivist.org and NIYA. They stood silent while Mohammad and David et.al. led their followers into asylum limbo that wasted more tax payer dollars in detention center, and now with the help of this so called immigration lawyer’s guidance — the situation has worsened. This is why Chicano Mexican American voters and citizens have had to push back against the actions of Dream 9 and Dream 30 because we could see that using the American legislative system is a better plan rather than coming up with ideas that places ‘immigrants outside of the system’ — in other words there are not short cuts.
Mexican-Americans account for almost 70% of the entire “Latin” population pie, and they are also the fastest growing population in the country. We await the United States House of Representatives as we compile a list of those who stood on the right side of immigration vs. those who do not stand on the right side of immigration. “DREAMers” may not be able to vote, but you can bet your bottom dollar that Mexican – American Chicanos can vote on behalf of them. Mexican-Americans who can vote are already looking ahead to 2016, because we are well aware of the approximate 500,000 new coming of age Latin voters per year. Now more than ever we are telling our members to call Congress in an effort to fix the clearly broken immigration system. We must support LEGAL comprehensive immigration reform because immigration is protected under the supremacy clause of our United States Constitution.
The 2013 Legal immigration reform bill is a major step forward in securing our Nation because only after everyone is registered and documented will we know who is in our Nation and where we can find them. We know that once we fix the broken immigration system, and once we document all immigrants — then they can feel safe to help law enforcement agencies to target real criminal activity without the fear of deportation when they report suspicious activity to the law enforcement authorities. Therefore, bringing the immigrants out of the shadows will only strengthen our Nation’s security.
