(D) Latina Candidate Amanda Aguirre soars as Raul Grijalva stumbles in debate

Saturday, August 18th, 2012

For those of you who may not know, the Tequila Party is a woman-led political grassroots movement, and we support women who have a strong record of helping women via breast cancer patients and women who have been victims in domestic violence abuse incidents.  Amanda has helped so many breast cancer patients and began a cafe to teach skills and empowerment of women who have been abused.

The Democrat candidates of Arizona’s District 3 participated in an Arizona Public Media Forum that aired on PBS Monday August 13, 2012.  To watch the debate online, click here.

State Senator Amanda Aguirre came out on top, having won the Democratic Primary Forum with her firm answers, strong convictions and bold vision for Arizona’s Congressional District 3.  Representative Raul Grijalva, on the other hand, showed once more that he puts his own interests above those of the Arizona people, and ignored Aguirre’s challenge to answer for his 400-plus missed votes in Congress.

Please see the press release below for more information.

TUCSON, AZ–In a debate broadcast by the Arizona Public Media Monday night, former State Senator Amanda Aguirre came out on top, having won the Democratic Primary Forum with her firm answers, strong convictions and bold vision for Arizona’s Congressional District 3.  Representative Raul Grijalva, on the other hand, showed once more that he puts his own interests above those of the Arizona people, and ignored Aguirre’s challenge to answer for his 400-plus missed votes in Congress.

Of the three candidates, Sen. Aguirre’s experience and response made her the clear frontrunner for dealing with border security in Congress.  Aguirre said, “I served for eight years on the Homeland Security Advisory Council … and one of the issues that we addressed very heavily [was] how to protect the border [and] make sure that we give the resources needed to our law enforcement.”

This stands in stark contrast to Rep. Grijalva who ignored the entire situation of Fast and Furious, despite the fact that it happened in his own district.  When Sen. Aguirre confronted Rep. Grijalva for refusing to represent his constituency when he walked off the floor during a crucial vote dealing with the Fast and Furious gun-walking scandal, Grijalva attempted to defend his actions by saying “it was all political.”

During the debate, Grijalva voiced his opposition to the Second Amendment by advocating for limitations on Americans’ right to bear arms, and downplayed the role mental health plays in gun violence.  Grijalva also showed his lack of understanding of the business world and medical industry by failing to address the adverse effects federal mandates have on health care practiced in southern Arizona.

Aguirre, on the other hand, is highly experienced in dealing with healthcare issues having spent more than 35 years in the healthcare industry.  She is willing and able to fight for mental health funding when elected to Congress: “We can’t deny it anymore that we have a problem on our hands and certainly, when I’m elected, I will make sure that the much-needed funding for health agencies are in place to address this issue [of mental health] nationwide.”

Currently, the unemployment rate in southern Arizona is among the highest in the nation. In Yuma alone, the number sits at 29 percent. “This has happened for many years.  We need to turn it around,” Aguirre said during the debate.  “Like many other Americans, we’re frustrated with what’s going on, not getting solutions, not moving the country forward.  That’s the reason I’m running for Congress in District 3.”

Meanwhile, Grijalva said he is seeking re-election because he has shown “consistency” throughout his entire political career.  “I’m not tired of the job, I think the job is good, I enjoy it,” he said.

“It wouldn’t surprise me that Representative Grijalva has yet to tire of his job, because he’s not doing it,” Aguirre said after the debate. “With 400 missed votes, indeed he has shown consistency:  He consistently runs away when it comes time to make a critical decision.  Arizona needs someone who will represent our state at all times; someone who can get the job done instead of worrying about keeping his own.”

Rep. Raul Grijalva hits candidate Amanda Aguirre, but Amanda politically punches back!

Wednesday, August 15th, 2012

The Grijalva campaign has sent yet another attack mailer filled with myths regarding voting records.

Congressional Candidate Amanda Aguirre responded “I am disheartened and saddened by Representative Grijalva’s false charges and stunned by his bold and dishonest statements.  The unfortunate truth is that Congressman Grijalva, having missed 400-plus votes since being elected to the U.S. House of Representatives, can only run on attack ads rather than his political record. Perhaps instead of twisting the truth to keep his job, he should fight harder to create jobs for the people of Arizona.”

See the below press release from Candidate Amanda Aguirre for U.S. Congress:

Grijalva Makes More False Claims; Lies About Voting Record

Tucson, AZ–Rep. Raul Grijalva is at it again. Recently, his campaign office sent out its fourth mailer accusing Sen. Aguirre of being all talk and no action, and referred to her as a “political candidate who [has] no record or real ideas.” Such radical statements and negative campaigns are an example of how this out-of-touch Congressman is willing to say anything and slander his opponent to keep his seat in Washington.  Meanwhile, he can’t even be honest about his own record.

Rep. Grijalva holds the record for most votes missed in U.S. Congress.  To date, he has skipped out on more than 400 votes since serving as a Representative at the federal level. Last week, Grijalva told the Arizona Daily Star that the votes he’s missed “have been for things like naming libraries and roads.”

Just this year alone, Grijalva has skipped at least two dozen votes, many of them vital to the people of Arizona and to the nation. Such issues have included decreasing the national deficit; repealing the CLASS program of the Fiscal Responsibility & Retirement Security Act; considering the Regulatory Freeze for Jobs Act of 2012; replacing President Obama’s energy and offshore drilling plan; allowing eligible Israeli nationals to receive E-2 nonimmigrant visas; establishing the U.S. government budget for Fiscal Year 2013; and amending the Homeland Security Appropriations Act.

“I am disheartened and saddened by Representative Grijalva’s false charges and stunned by his bold and dishonest statements,” former State Senator Amanda Aguirre said. “The unfortunate truth is that Congressman Grijalva, having missed 400-plus votes since being elected to the U.S. House of Representatives, can only run on attack ads rather than his political record. Perhaps instead of twisting the truth to keep his job, he should fight harder to create jobs for the people of Arizona.”

Senator Aguirre has a successful and proven track record of creating jobs, backing business, supporting labor unions and fighting for families. She served as a State Legislator from 2003 to 2010, and established the Health Education Career Institute in 2007, which has provided job opportunities and placement for more than 400 individuals. She currently serves as President/CEO of the Regional Center for Border Health and the San Luis Walk-In Clinic.

Congress hits all new low no thanks to Tea Party Republicans like David Schweikert!

Wednesday, August 15th, 2012

Have you noticed how David Schweikert has become an extremists and an obstructionist?  He is no Reagan and cannot get anything done with his “anti-everything” attitude.
Find out why the Tea Party Reps aren’t really up to snuff and why Americans are growing tired with their obstructionist views.

As an Independent voter in Arizona — David gets two thumbs down from me!

Congress Approval Rating Hits All-Time Low In Gallup Poll

Just one in 10 Americans approves of the job Congress is doing, according to a Gallup poll released Tuesday, tying the branch’s lowest approval rating in 38 years. Congress originally hit the 10 percent mark in February, before bouncing back several points.

The approval rate for Congress hasn’t passed 20 percent in more than a year, according to Gallup, and is far lower than the personal approval ratings for most members of Congress. Prior to 2007, it sank below 20 percent only twice.

Arizona-based Latina/o Group Blasts Tea Party Republican Joe the Plumber for suggesting shooting our neighbors at the border; Shame on Sen. Klein for applauding that.

Tuesday, August 14th, 2012

Wow.  So much for the so-called pro lifers on the Republican side.

What makes an outsider think he knows the situation on the border?  Did he forget about how the minute men vigilantes have killed children and women in our State of Arizona?

Shame on Arizona State Sen. Lori Klein, Wurzelbacher  who applauded Klein’s stance on shooting our neighbors.  Anyone know which church she attends?

Arizona based National Group Blasts Tea Party Joe Plumber for Violent Remarks Against Neighbor

Phoenix, AZ — The National Tequila Party Movement is blasting Tea Party candidate Samuel “Joe the Plumber” Wurzelbacher for suggesting vigilante shooting with our neighbors in Mexico.

In light of the Batman movie shootings, the SikhTemple Shootings and the recent Texas A & M shootings, we believe this is hardly the time to suggest more gun violence and vigilante behavior.  The Culture of Violence the Tea Party gun advocates bring are dangerous to our Country.  In fact, those of us who live in border states like Arizona remember how Minutemen were instrumental in the murder of Brisenia Flores, a young child who died in the presence of her own mother.  The Tequila Party cannot and will not support fear-mongers. The hate climate against Latinos has increased and swept our nation due to bigotry.

Joe the Plumber is a disgrace to his Republican Party, and we intend on communicating to independent registered voters across the nation how violence is not the answer in keeping the United States ‘united.’

(Breaking) Ingraham: Mitt Romney (a/k/a Mr. RomneyCare) is losing among conservatives

Friday, August 10th, 2012

It looks like the fact Mitt Romney supported RomneyCare that laid the foundation to ObamaCare is costing him the election among conservatives.

As an Independent registered voter, I would rather see President Obama finish out a second term than to stomach Mr. RomneyCare for 8 years.

Bottom line?  The middle class does not trust Wall Street crony Capitalists like Mitt Romney.

From the NRO:

Ingraham: ‘Romney is Losing’

On Friday, conservative radio show host Laura Ingraham ripped into Mitt Romney’s campaign.  After citing CNN and Fox polls that show President Obama has opened a lead on Governor Romney nationally, and polls that show Romney lagging behind Obama in key swing states, Ingraham frankly told her audience, “Romney is losing.”

The Party is over for the Corrupt Joe Arpaio. Partisanship will point to new independent candidate winner this year.

Thursday, August 9th, 2012

The Party is over for the Corrupt Joe Arpaio and in the Maricopa County Sheriff Office Race.  Partisanship will point to new independent candidate winner this year.

Here is how Mike Stauffer will win in 2012. Independent registered voters in Arizona make up the 2nd largest party — particularly in Maricopa County where we are trying to oust the extremist Tea Party corrupt Sheriff Joe Arpaio.

The Tequila Party supports open elections open government appeal process for independent voters.

Monday, August 6th, 2012

The Tequila Party supports open elections open government appeal process for independent voters.  We are fully aware that the two party system does not want to relinquish their control and hold on political power.  However, their partisanship has led Americans to contribute to the surge of independent voters.

Just in from Open Elections Open Government

The court decision came down this morning and unfortunately it was against us.  It was always expected that this issue would not be settled until it was appealed to the Supreme Court.

Here is a statement from the Open Government Committee’s chairman, Paul Johnson…

“While we are pleased that Judge Brain found nearly all of the arguments raised by initiative opponents without merit, we disagree with the ruling that focused on a single and very narrow portion of the initiative—the continuing use of taxpayer dollars to fund the election of political party officers. We expected all along that the ongoing effort by the political bosses and lobbyists to quash this citizen initiative would ultimately find its way to the Arizona Supreme Court. We intend to appeal.”

We will continue to update you as the appeal process proceeds.

Thank you for your support,

Tequila Party to perform another exorcism at Ascension Catholic Church of el diablo Arpaio. (2nd protest August 12, 2012)

Sunday, August 5th, 2012

The National Tequila Party Movement will be performing  another exorcism at Ascension Catholic Church regarding Sheriff Joe Arpaio (El Diablo) who has embraced the culture of death at his Maricopa County Sheriff’s Office.  This will be our 2nd protest set for  August 12, 2012, at 8:00 am through 10:00 am (both masses).

We have no other choice but to make a plea to Bishop Olmsted to rebuke the culture of death actions Sheriff Joe Arpaio has embraced.

The Latino community perceives Sheriff Joe Arpaio as el Diablo. He jokes about the mysterious Mexican deaths in his prison, but more importantly …  mysterious deaths are indeed occurring.

At our first protest, the Tea Party Movement protested our protest of Sheriff Joe Arpaio.  Joe Arpaio did not attend his church on the 29th of July, but today he did twitter that he attended mass.  The Tequila Party will continue to protest the devil a/k/a Arpaio this upcoming Sunday.  He gives the Catholic Church a bad image, and this is very sad considering that most in the Latino population are members of the Catholic Church.  See below twitter of Arpaio.

(ABOVE) Arpaio gloats about attending the Catholic Church.

We look forward to seeing the corrupt Sheriff Joe Arpaio at our 2nd protest next Sunday.  Perhaps he can see the hurt he has created for our community, and may our Creator show him in his dreams the heartbreak he has caused my People.

US Congresswoman Candidate Amanda Aguirre and Tequila Party Event from today’s event in Somerton, Arizona

Sunday, August 5th, 2012

Amanda Aguirre had approximately 40 volunteers help her over the course of the weekend as they conducted literature drops and political education.  She has strong support among the matriarchs and we are happy to help her be the first Latina US Congresswoman in the State of Arizona.   At today’s event, we reached out to independent registered voters we called to attend our event.

The below photo was taken at the Main Street Cafe today.  Amanda created the Main Street Cafe to help domestic violence victims get back on their feet. This place is very very special and has the Spirit of Love for all of the work that Amanda has done in her life. Amanda…who is running for US Congress is a very special woman who has a lot of love for the orphans, domestic violence victms and the hurting. This is why we support her.

This beautiful mural below at the Main Street Cafe has a lot of meaning regarding women and the fruits they can bring into this life. — Somerton, Arizona Tequila Event August 5, 2012.  I cannot stress the love I sense from Amanda Aguirre and the love and care she has for others.  I was particularly intrigued for what she has done for the orphans at the border to the point of heartbreak.  I am so thankful for Amanda and what she has done for those orphans who get mixed up in the deportation vicious cycle.

(Above) Angel Garcia and I felt a lot of love at the Main Street Cafe…a restaurant that Amanda Aguirre set up to help domestic violence victims get on their feet again.  I felt love here.  The more I know Amanda, the more I know the Hill needs her.

The Idaho Tequila Party Rally was a success!

Meet the woman who played a big role with regard to making the Idaho Tequila Party Rally happen –Mary Jo Torrez. In photo, she explains the importance of the Latino vote in the upcoming 2012 Presidential election. [Yes, we are supporting Obama for President.
