First Immigration Music CD Compilation In The History of the United States Coming Soon!

First Immigration Music CD Compilation in Spanish, English and Spanglish In The History of the United States Coming Soon!

The Tequila Party CD and our concert is a political expression via art and music to push for fixing the broken immigration system.  Artists contributing to this cause believe in a humane and legal immigration plan.  We support the DREAM Act and more importantly, we believe in Mexican-American / Chicano / Latin empowerment. We know that leadership must arise from the ethnic community (via the Mexican-Americans) who have been most hurt and most affected.  It is a fact that the majority of those who are being deported are of Mexican descent.  Mexican-Americans are a rising population muscle and they account for almost 70% of the Latino population pie.  It is time to stand firm against  what politicians in Arizona refer to as “Operation Wetback.”  It is time to support and defend those who are afraid to defend themselves.

The Tequila Party Movement Review in Preparation of the 2012 Presidential Cycle

Thursday, November 8th, 2012

Our Year in Review and some of our accomplishments held in preparation of the 2012 Presidential Cycle.

We didn’t just talk the talk — we walked the walk.

It is impossible to list everything we have done over the past  approximate year. Thousands of photos have yet to be uploaded,  and you can see more regarding what we have done in our facebook wall photos and/or in our albums or/or by visiting  www.nationaltequilapartymovement.com and www.somosindependents.com.

We had Get Out the Vote initiatives/rallies in New York, Washington D.C., Colorado, Nevada, Nebraska, Kansas, Indiana, Michigan, Arizona, Oklahoma, Florida, New Mexico and more.

We are unique because we are Mexican-led and Latina led, and we know Mexican-Americans make up almost 70% of the Latino population.  We refuse to allow the Cuban-Americans and whites to be our voice.  We believe we are smart enough to be our own voice and we know we can articulate our own opinions to that political regard as Chicanas.

The Tequila Party Movement is a woman-led counter movement to the extreme Tea Party Movement. We are a national movement to get out the Latino Vote so that we can support immigrant friendly politicians.

Mission:A movement to celebrate Latin culture while promoting a massive non-partisan national Latino 2012 voter registration drive. To promote participation in the early ballot system. To increase political awareness that will increase participation during the Primary Elections as well as the General Elections.

Structural and leadership changes being made with the Tequila party movement and Somos Independents; but, Shirl Mora James (lead co-president and Civil Rights / Immigration Lawyer) at the helm as several of leaders are going to take a sabbatical through rest of the year in light of the approaching holiday season, and DeeDee Blase will be retiring from the hard core political grassroots activism.

Congratulations to President Obama from Arizona: Democrats must work on legal immigration reform before 2014

Wednesday, November 7th, 2012

Congratulations to President Obamafrom Arizona!

Photo taken by DeeDee Blase in Phoenix while watching Obama’s re-election speech.

The best line in his speech last night was when he said:

“We are and forever will be the United States of America.”

It was my first time voting for a Democratic President – ever.

Indeed it has been a crazy election year, and I am glad to retire from hard core grassroots activism now.

I was surprised to learn that it was the Republican Presidential Candidate via Mitt Romney who profited  approximately $50 million in the abortion industry via Stericycle despite their pro life platform.  How did the Republican Party support a man who made $50 million dollars regarding abortions?  Did the GOP change that much?  Indeed they did; in fact, the RNC included an anti-immigrant official platform one week before their 2012 Convention in Florida.  The John Tanton Network and FAIR thoroughly hijacked them. Republicans are now being viewed more and more each day as the modern-day Dixiecrats of old (reminiscent of the pre Civil Rights era).

What must the Democratic Party do in order to prevent Latinos from registering as independent voters?

Indeed we did listen to Sheriff Joe Arpaio’s victory speech on television last night where he told the whole world that “he is merely enforcing the law” and if “people” have a problem with the law then the law should be changed.  This should be a clear signal to all how Arpaio and his minions are hungry to place more blame on the Democratic Party and this is precisely why the Democratic Party must act swiftly.

We all know that Latino and immigration activists sent the Democratic Party a signal earlier this year by threatening not voting for Democratic candidates if they did not see fixes to immigration reform.

We then saw the Deferred Action take place.

Indeed the deferred action is a temporary fix, but it beats the self-deportation policies the Republicans were supporting.  That said, the Democratic Party must act fast and not insult the intelligence of Latino voters anymore.  We are glad to learn that the Nevada Senator Harry Reid has vowed to work on legal immigration reform.

She lost her daughter when she left them to a “Christian” couple to take care of when she had to leave for a bit. When she returned to take them back, they refused and she filed a lawsuit. She lost.

The Democratic Party has less than two years (well before the 2014 midterm election cycle) to fix the broken immigration system while offering a legal immigration comprehensive plan.  If and when the Democratic Party finds itself becoming threatened by restrictionist, isolationist and protectionist Republicans in the House of Representatives … the Democratic Party must outwit them and micro-target 2014 House seats where an increase and heavy Latino voting population exists.

The Democratic Party must take proactive moves and outmaneuver the isolationists or risk alienating Mexican-Americans (the fast growing ethnic group within the Latino population).

The responsibility does not rest on the Democratic Party either because we will be watching so-called Latino leaders and immigration activists accountable, too, to see if they hold Democratic Party leadership and their feet to the fire.  Will Latino and immigration activists look the other way and continue to be sheeple?  Or will they be more assertive with regard to the immigration issue?

Time will tell.

In any event, the Democratic Party must make moves to the legal immigration regard or else deal with Ruben Navarrette’s continued finger pointing.

Mexican-Americans are tired of the immigration issue being used as a political football, and now that Latinos and women essentially helped vote in  President Obama … and in light of key Democratic U.S. Senate seats being won – there are no excuses with regard to taking care of Homeland issues.  Indeed Americans are tired of spending millions of dollars on war and abroad – it is time to fix things here at home that will only benefit the American economy and our aging population.

A healthy and legal immigration solution will secure our borders, create a safer North American Continent and promote a stronger relationship with our contiguous neighbors.  Enforcement-only initiatives promote a situation that emulates the failed days of Prohibition, which serves only to encourage the underground labor market.  Our government needs the additional tax revenues that new immigrants generate in order to sustain the burgeoning entitlement programs baby boomers require as they continue to retire.  By developing a reasonable legal immigration plan, we create a system where immigrants share American tax burdens as they continue to contribute millions of dollars into our tax coffers.  New immigrants sharing our tax burdens will help discourage our government from increasing taxes, because under the current system these entitlement programs will drain all federal revenues within 15 years.

Mexican-American Post-election Senate Analysis: Tea Party Republican Candidates Died Everywhere Except in Arizona’s Archaic Arpaio-land

Wednesday, November 7th, 2012

Allow this to be a post-election analysis that comes from the heart of the Mexican-American /Chicana community.

Women, Latinas and Hispanics carried Obama through a re-election. The GOP needs a major overhaul and they need to eliminate their anti-immigrant platform they adopted one week before the Florida RNC Convention of 2012.

We were watching the Senate seats very closely last night because the last thing we need is more obstructionism and gridlock.  American voters made it clear last night that we are seeking bipartisanship.  We are tired of partisanship tactics – and we want to see people at the Hill work on solutions and not Party bickering.  They are hired as public servants to do a job for the American people that will serve in the best interest of the United States and not necessarily their Party.

We knew that the pro legal immigrant candidates needed to beat the Tea Party Republican U.S. Candidates last night and were happy that several Tea Party people lost — it began with learning of the demise of the former Tea Party favorite Scott Brown from Massachusetts when he lost against Elizabeth Warren.  I believe the loss of Brown marks the decline of Tea Party extremism at the Senate level.

Last night got better for us when we learned the extremist Tea Party candidate Richard Mourdock was defeated by Joe Donnelly, and even though Donnelly cannot receive praise from the Mexican-American community in light of his failure to support the DREAM Act in 2010 — we are glad the extremist Mourdock was defeated.   The National Tequila Party Movement (woman-led organization) went to Indiana and held a Get Out the Vote Concert Rally where we spoke to students from 5 different universities that included Indiana University and Notre Dame.  We went there to support the last decent Republican Senator via Dick Lugar because he was 1 of only 3 GOPers who voted for the DREAM Act at the Senate level.  Hell, Senator John McCain didn’t even support the DREAM (and we attribute this to grudge holding he has against us since he lost to Obama in 2008).

The night still got better when we learned Senator Bill Nelson beat the Tea Party Connie Mack.  (Now if we can just see and get the Puerto Rican community to ensure that Cuban-American Senator Marco Rubio will be a one term Senator since Rubio supported Arizona’s SB 1070 and did not support the DREAM Act when we needed him to be a light instead of jaws).

As the night progressed, we learned Sen. Claire McCaskill easily defeated Tea Party Republican Todd Akin, and last but not least we are happy that New Mexico’s Martin Heinrich beat Heather Wilson.

We are disappointed that Bob Kerrey did not defeat Debbie Fisher in Nebraska, but the former Democratic U.S. Candidate Ben Nelson of Nebraska didn’t vote for the DREAM Act in December 2010 anyway, and we believe Nebraska will not support the immigrant community even though the Midwest benefits economically from immigrant and competitive labor.

Meanwhile in Arizona, last night we all witnessed a strong Tea Party Republican stronghold when Jeff Flake killed Richard Carmona.   Both Carmona and Flake spent millions of dollars in order to win and I wanted to see Richard take the seat.  I am surprised at Marc Victor’s 4% pull but it wasn’t enough to hurt Flake.  For those who may not know this, Jeff Flake is despised by the Mexican-American community in Arizona for not supporting the DREAM Act in 2010 and Chicanos know that it is a matter of time with our growing demographics that our voting clout will continue to increase.  We hope to eventually vote out uncompassionate politicians like Jeff Flake.  It is only a matter of time and our numbers are working for us as the aging population continues to … well, age.

I’m surprised with the Arizona Mormon community in Arizona – particularly those who claim to spread the Mormon gospel.  I watched them bash the ousted Mormon Russell Pearce for his self-deportation ideas, but on the other hand, they turned a blind eye to Jeff Flake and his failure to support the 2010 DREAM Act and legal immigration reform … in fact, these Mormon leaders supported Mitt Romney even though Romney made Arpaio his chair in 2008, and Mitt received campaign advice this past year from Kris Kobach (the legal architect behind many of these anti-immigrant laws).   I’m disappointed.  They will never understand the collateral damage Romney has created for them.

On a positive note, I am happy to see more WOMEN in the U.S. Senate!  The Tequila Party (woman-led counter movement to the Tea Party) is extremely happy to see more women rise.

Congratulations to Elizabeth Warren, Claire McCaskill and Tammy Baldwin!

The Tequila Party (based out of Arizona and Nebraska)  is the Latina-led counter movement of the extreme Tea Party movement.  The Tea Party wants nothing to do with bipartisanship — in fact, they comprise of a bunch of obstructionists.

The Guardian: Mitt Romney’s problem with “binders of women” panel discussion with women voters across the Nation

Friday, October 19th, 2012

The Guardian UK is a well read newspaper in our Nation and I was proud to chime in on a discussion panel of women as it relates to the topic of Mitt Romney and his “binders of women.”

I was happy to address what has been burning in my heart –  and, as a woman who proudly served in our Armed Forces as a bomb dog handler …  I believe it is time for women to be part of the Joint Chiefs of Staff.

Let’s break that glass ceiling.

We need to pick our battles more carefully as it relates to war, and since many of us have children of our own who could be drafted, then I believe we should be part of the strategic decisions.

You can read the entire discussion here, and was amongst 6 other women who contributed to the panel.  Here is my contribution:

DeeDee Garcia Blase

It will be very hard for Mitt Romney to improve his image with women voters because he has reversed his stance on the pro-choice/pro-life issue too many times. His reversals make him appear like a populist politician driven by polls. Remember, Romney gave an oath to protect a woman’s right to choose until he decided to run under the Republican presidential ticket. How can a pro-choice woman trust Romney after he went back on his word? On the other hand, how can a pro-life woman trust him when his campaign recently stated that abortion “should be an option” in certain cases?

In order for Romney to garner the trust of women voters, he will have to pick a side and stick with it to the end, else mistrust will continue to pile up. Right now, women do not know what his real conviction on the issue, and we become much more considerate of politicians who stick to their convictions. As it stands, we still do not know where his heart is really at.

A woman has never served on the Joint Chiefs of Staff (JCS); therefore, any president promoting women to the JCS within his first 100 days would give many of us a sigh of relief and encouragement. So many women in the US are related to sons, daughters or relatives currently serving our armed forces, and we are feeling apprehensive and pressure with regard to the multiple wars we have been engaged in. It would be helpful knowing that more women are part of the “advisory committee”, which helps plan joint operations and resolutions of military problems because, as it stands, there appears to be too much testosterone fueling those key decisions. It would be helpful for us to see balance at a strategic leadership level.

Just in: Recent Arizona Border Agent Death attributed to friendly fire

Just in:  Recent Arizona Border Agent Death attributed to friendly fire.

Friendly fire killed Border Patrol agent, sources tell NBC News

Investigators are preparing to announce that the death of Border Patrol Agent Nicholas Ivie in Arizona earlier this week was the result of friendly fire — accidental gunfire from another agent who responded to the same scene, state and federal officials told NBC News on Friday.

The conclusion is based on an analysis of the ballistics, the lack of evidence of other criminals in the area at the time, and other factors, the sources said.

A formal statement about the findings could come later Friday.

The incident involving Ivie and two other agents occurred Tuesday in a rugged area about five miles north of the US-Mexico border near Bisbee, Ariz. The agents had responded to an alarm from a sensor that tracks illegal movement along the border.  FULL STORY>>>

Say YES to Prop 121 (leading in the polls); Say YES to Independent candidate Mike Stauffer for Sheriff who supports Prop 121

Monday, October 1st, 2012

Tired of extremism in our State of Arizona?

Well then there is good news and an update for those of who are Independent registered voters and are tired of partisanship in American.

Subject: Prop 121 leading in poll
From: “Open Government – All Voters, All Elections”
Internal polling for the Open Elections Open Government Campaign shows that Prop 121 is leading 55% to 30% after ballot language and pro and con arguments are read to a 600 statewide sample of likely November voters.

The scientific study was commissioned by RIESTER Public Affairs and conducted by Arizona-based Behavior Research Center (best known for the Rocky Mountain Poll).  The results were based on 600 in-depth interviews and was weighted to reflect age, party registration and geographical spread in the state.

The study was conducted between September 11 and 16, 2012.  The survey had a 4.1% margin of error.

Joe Yuhas, Campaign Consultant for Prop 121 states, “The survey is very positive for the campaign and shows that when voters are given the ballot language and hear arguments both for and against this significant election reform they respond positively.  We look forward to a vigorous final five weeks of the campaign and a victory on election night.”

Also, please remember to vote for independent Mike Stauffer for sheriff who does support proposition 121 Open elections / Open government.

We need to root out extremism.

Both party bosses have been fighting Prop 121 to no avail.  They are putting there signs telling the public to vote ‘no’ on prop 121, however, we encourage all independent voters, moderates, and centrist thinking people to SAY YES TO PROP 121.

VOTE YES ON PROP 121!
